Noting for records-keeping and reviewer awareness that JJ19 has been messaging me with regards to seeking critique:

Recently you reviewed The Apple Tree (https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-16834775/seeking-greenlight#post-6516693) and commented on it, I did format it properly and fixed things. If you could look at it again that would be great. Thank you for your time.

As I did not review their material (I staffposted telling them to use the template), I sent back:

Sorry, staff generally don't give "since you're here" feedback, since that can inadvertently result in authors intentionally breaking forum guidelines for extra attention. Please ask someone else for feedback. All that I want is to get it greenlit. So far Idk if I could find many other people with the way that this works, also this is such a godame complicated process that Idk if this will ever get greenlit and that's sad because I thought this was a welcoming community!

If you reach out to reviewers politely with a non-generic message (that is, the message is intended for them personally, rather than being something that could be sent to anyone), you are more likely to get responses. All the reviewers on the site are unpaid volunteers, and there are many more authors seeking critique than there are readers who will dedicate their free time to helping people without compensation.

You can also join the official Discord and/or the IRC chatrooms to request feedback in real-time, or try swapping reviews with other authors.

The greenlighting process should not be more complicated than getting a draft reviewed and submitting material to the mainsite. If an author demonstrates aptitude with the greenlighting process, that makes the process of receiving draft critique and upvotes easier in the future.

The SCP wiki has high expectations, and all authors regardless of seniority are held to high standards. The greenlighting process exists to prepare authors for the voting process; once something is posted to the mainsite for voting, if it reaches deletion threshold, it is removed from the site. Readers are not obligated to give feedback or explain their votes at that stage.
