AHT Statement on DrBleep and MetaFoundation

On May 13th, AHT member and SCP admin DrBleep joined the MetaFoundation server and, when she was recognized the following exchange occured:

DrBleep: I am, cause apparently this server is a hot bed for disc/aht activity so I came to see what the buzz is

While this was intended as a joke, it caused several members to feel that they were being targeted by the Disciplinary and Anti-Harassment Teams. There was already some difficult history between Site Staff and the community in MetaFoundation.

This showed a serious lapse in judgement. When I spoke with Bleep about this lapse, she admitted that she regretted saying it immediately. She wrote an apology and posted it in the main channel for MetaFoundation.

I believe that it's important for members to trust the Anti-Harassment Team, and to know that we take this behavior seriously. While Bleep's contrition and willingness to admit fault speaks well for her, I believe that some official action should also take place. After consulting the rest of the Anti-Harassment Team, we have decided that she will be removed from the team for a period of one month. She will also be required to recuse herself from any harassment case centered around MetaFoundation spaces for at least one year, at which point AHT will re-assess to see if it's still needed.

Hey folks

When I first joined the metafoundation server as Mann outlined above I made a joke about joining it because it had been a hotbed of AHT/Disc behavior. While that was intended purely as a joke, I realized after the fact that with my position as administrator that joke had far more weight than it was intended to. I'd like to take a moment to apologize to anyone who I made feel unwelcome or painted as being a problem user by making that joke, or making you feel like the wiki was after you. That wasn't my intention though I acknowledge how it came across and will do better in the future to not cast that aspersion. And for the record, I think that Metafoundation is a great server with a really positive attitude and atmosphere, and I'm mad at myself for being misled on that front.

Secondly I owe an apology to AHT and the rest of staff. What I did could have, and probably did for some, cause serious damage and a feeling of being othered and constructing an us vs them narrative. I recognize that the relationship with AHT and the userbase is an ever precarious tight rope, I made an incredibly boneheaded post which could have and, probably did for some, jeopardized that relationship. It was unprofessional, rude, and unbecoming of my position as an administrator and a member of AHT. I am typically very careful about that relationship, but in this moment I was not. When I return I will do my utmost to avoid repeating this mistake ever again.

Additionally, I want to address staff accountability. In the past staff has not been as accountable to each other or the userbase as they should have been. This is partly why I suggested to Mann that I be removed from AHT for a period of one month; however I feel that is insufficient as this should not have happened. So I will be censuring myself for a period of one week, during which I will shed all roles, mute any staff servers I am in, and instruct the teams I am contact for to contact other administrators to help with ongoing projects. I believe in accountability and putting my money where my mouth is, and I want to set a better example for staff than others who've done similar things have in the past.
