New site member Lynxious (account age 21 days, site membership 20 days) recently posted several reviews to the Writing Help forums, some of which instructed authors not to refer to anomalies as "SCP-XXXX" as that would "scare away critters":

[…] 3: Probably something only I do, but referring to the anomaly as SCP-XXXX scares off critters. Refer to it rather as "the anomaly" or "subject". Again, probably something only I do, but I think it's also in the writing hub or guide hub if you want to read it. […]

[…] Third, as this is advice I give to all threads I critique, don't refer to the anomaly as "SCP-XXXX". Instead, use "the anomaly" or "subject". Nobody wants to read an article that says "SCP-XXXX did this, SCP-XXXX can speak". People would rather read an article that say "The anomaly is capable of this, subject is capable of speech.

[…] Third, say "the anomaly" or "subject" instead of "SCP". It scares off critters if you continuously say "SCP is not, SCP keeps messing,".
I've posted (not staff posts) in the threads above asking the user to explain their reasoning. Keep an eye on.
