Proposed timeline of implementations:
T+0: Vote on this concludes
T+1 day: tagging manifest is updated, users are not allowed to tag new tales other than ones they have written. A workbench will be created for untagged tales. Collections will go through their sheet for all articles they have already tagged. A guide for how to tale tag will be written.
T+14 days: The how to guide to tale tagging and the workbench for tale tagging will be opened, by now collections should have gone though the spreadsheet, we make some announcements on the subject.
Changes to who can tag for genre:
- Staff
- Former staff in good standing
- Any user with one successful page on the site
- Any user who has had an idea fully greenlit
- Any user who has passed a crit flight
- Any user a member of staff (including JS) deems capable of doing so
Resolution:
In case of two users having a conflict over what tags should be applied they should reach out to the tagging team to resolve it the tagging team will then reach out to the author of the work.
Authors always have final say over tale tags as long as it is done in good faith.
Incentives
Now to incentivize people who are not staff into doing this I propose an incentive structure. When a user tags a tale they may add it to a newly made workbench. At the start of each month we randomly select one article on the workbench and then give whomever tagged said article one of the weekly front page spotlights. We then clear the workbench.
We will also add a small bit of text under the reviewers spotlight pointing people to a forum post on how to get said spotlights, either for crit flights or tale tagging.
Users found to be abusing this system will first be sent a tagging C&D and then normal disc action for vandalism will be applied if the user continues, this does not apply to authors tagging their won works.
