Purpose:

The Discord Team Restructure has passed. This restructure calls for the new leadership of the Discord Team to be selected by a joint Discord Team and Administrator vote. In order to do this we need candidates to vote on.

I proposed a method by which to do this in discord two days ago - there has been no opposition, so I'm moving forward with that process.

In this thread we will allow 1 week for staff to put themselves forward as candidates for Captain or Vice Captain positions. In this thread the candidates may speak to why they believe they would be a good candidate if they so wish.

This is NOT a voting thread, and this thread is NOT intended to provide commentary on the candidates. This thread is solely for the purpose of self-nomination.

Process:

Candidates will indicate clearly here whether or not they are interested in a captaincy position utilizing the code block below. Please only comment if you are submitting yourself as a candidate; there is no need to opt out if you are interested in no positions. You may submit yourself as a candidate for all positions if you so wish; please see the section below on "The Election Vote" for more details.

+ The Election Vote:

The rules for the vote will be as follows

• The vote will be open to Administrators and all of the Discord Team - including Junior Staff.
• The vote will be conducted over a period of one week.
• In this vote we use ranked choice voting for each position.
• The Captaincy vote will be counted first, and if someone receives it they will be eliminated as a candidate from all VC votes.
• Two VCs will be chosen for the Moderation Subteam. If another is needed the captain may appoint them.
• One VC will be chosen for the Documentation Subteam.
• There will be no vote for the Bot and Automation Subteam. Yossi will be VC of this subteam.
• Before the results are finalized if someone has won multiple votes they may choose to select one VC position to occupy and remove themselves as a candidate from the other poll, but they are not required to do so.
• In the event that there are fewer candidates than open positions for VC, the newly appointed Captain will be responsible for filling these positions.

Admittedly this is a little hard for me to just throw out there, but I would like to nominate myself for any of the three above roles. I have worked hard on implementing the new rule and staff structure in order to help us have a more sustainable future as a live moderation team, and have served for over a year as one of 19cords more active moderators. In the end, I just want what is best for the team moving forward and would be happy to continue to work for what is best for the team and the wiki as a whole. Thanks!

I’ve been on the 19cord mod team since before it was even an actual team, picked because of my experience with managing SCPD and administrating the Library server. In that scarily-long period of time, I’ve contributed a fucktonne to server mod practices, processes, rules, et cetera, along with being one of the most active mods for ages, regularly in chat dealing with problems or addressing complaints. Seniority isn’t a key factor, but I think that my wealth of experience handling the server and coordinating moderators seems like the kind of experience that would be useful here. 19cord’s chief problem was/is the lack of driving force and clear chain of command for mods; those are the kinds of problems I’m good at addressing, if we’re interested in building a sustainable team structure.

As the person doing most of the documenting and porting, I feel I should at least toss myself in as a candidate for documentation VC. I understand I'm a fairly new addition to the team, I haven't even been promoted from a junior mod yet, and with that, there'll naturally be apprehension about putting me in a position like this. However, after many bans logged, I think it's safe to say I know what I'm doing. Having a subteam is already a good first step towards streamlining the process, and I would like to be as involved as I can be in ensuring it goes smoothly.

I have been a moderator in 19cord for over a year now. Throughout this period, i have been one of the server's most active moderators, regularly responding to issues in either of the general chat channels, discussing rules, policy, etc., only not being active in hours where I was literally sleeping. The quality of my moderating work is self-evident, as demonstrated by my being elected (alongside ari and rounder) as one of the new discord admins by the rest of the moderation team and the 19cord community at large.

As we in the 19cord are dealing with an increasing server population, and the consequences it carries, I do believe my experience in moderating would help to carry this transitionary phase of the server as smoothly as possible.

Edit: actually I'm going to bow out of this race.
On reflection, I have full trust in the other candidates to do a good job, and if I took on the captaincy role I may over-extend myself somewhat.
