Purpose
Get rid of Project Crossover. You can't add to it. It's gone. You can't. Bye. No more.
Project Crossover is the most blatant disregard of the site's CC BY-SA 3.0 license that remains on the site. Most of its articles contain elements that go beyond the scope of inspiration and into the territory of violating intellectual property. In fact, the only Project Crossover articles that do not violate IP are the following:
This leaves roughly 40 articles on the wiki that cannot remain on the site. It's time to excise them.
Proposal
Please note that this discussion will not center around whether we can keep these articles on the wiki or not. The simple answer is that we can't. And fair use does not apply, as fair use is an argument to be used in court - the very situation we are trying to avoid in the first place.
Rather, it focuses on what should be done to get rid of them. The following options have been proposed as means to address this:
1. Delete the infringing articles. Simple as.
2. Blank and unlist said articles.
I am open to possible alternative options, which can be discussed in the replies below.
What's more, prior to any action being taken, we will make an effort to contact all the authors whose works would be affected and provide them with one week to preserve their works somewhere. If the author does not respond, we will send them the page source in a wikidot DM.
Regardless of the action taken, the goal is to stop new entries. As representatives of the SCP wiki, we cannot allow such infringing material to remain on the site under our responsibility.
Due to the necessity of the action, this discussion will go on for one week, with a voting period of an additional week. A vote will be put up with the three most popular options listed. Voters will select only one option - that is, the action they would prefer staff take. After the voting period has concluded, the option with the most votes will be the path of action taken. In the event that a tie takes place, SCP Wiki admins have the authority to pick which of those options they would prefer to take.
It's time to end this chapter of the wiki.
