Alright friends, it's time for us to discuss something.
Under current rules, all members of staff get greenlighting perms as a result of being staff. The critique team believe this needs to change.
Being a member of staff is *not* proof that someone knows or understands how to write a successful article for the site. Becoming staff is also, to be frank, not a difficult thing to do. We understand that this policy was initially created with the idea that staff were trusted enough members of the community to warrant having this ability, but we don't think that alone is enough justification.
Our proposal- remove the policy that allows a user to greenlight if they are a member of staff.
Should this pass, the only way for someone to earn greenlighting perms will be via completion of a flight, being selected for reviewer's spotlight, becoming a member of the Moth/Butterfly Squad, or having 3 successful articles on site (defined as positively rated after 24 hours).
This discussion is open to all members of staff, and will remain open for 1 week.
