The Disciplinary Team was alerted on July 5th to a pattern of Cremo rapidly downvoting the works of two authors - Fish^12 and Uncle Nicolini.

Disciplinary staff reached out to Cremo for an explanation and while they did claim that the voting was not malicious, it was decided amongst the team that these votes did match a pattern of malicious behavior. As such, Cremo has received a revocation of their SCP Wiki membership. They may reapply and be accepted once they have acknowledged the reason for the revocation.

It is my opinion that one seeking out the body of work of an author that they have decided that they do not enjoy for the purpose of downvoting those works, is indistinguishable from malicious downvoting.

Supporting the above judgement. If you don’t enjoy someone’s work you don’t actively seek out their entire catalogue to downvote everything.

Support. It doesn't seem possible that you would specifically read the works of two authors exclusively, dislike them, continue to read only their articles, then downvote every one of them without leaving a single comment to justify any of these downvotes. It simply doesn't make sense in any other context.

Noting that if memory serves, precedent indicates that typically malicious downvoting results in a ban.

ETA: also, noting that the user has applied for and rejoined the mainsite.

This was a pretty serious mistake in process on the end of the Disc team. The pattern in question involved approximately 55 votes in the negative for these two authors in a 2 day period, according to scpper. While a decision was made by a handful of members of the team, there was absolutely no need to rush to a conclusion once the malicious downvoter had been revoked. And this particular case had no extenuating circumstances that require it be expedited.

Although Cremo already "served" their sentence of a revoke, this should and needs to be a 1-year ban. Nothing about this story passes the fainest scrutiny to explain why 55 votes in 2 days targeted these authors, especially given the rest of their vote history, and we have (as far as I am aware) never issued 'just' a revoke for a proveable case of malicious downvoting.

Bans need to be manually removed, so it is a possibility that you may need to request the ban to be lifted if it doesn't get addressed. You would need to submit a new application to rejoin once the ban lifts.
