This is a voting thread only and will likely have a high turnout. To make tabulation easier please follow these rules:

You may rationalize your vote in a collapsible following your vote.
You may not respond to the rationalization of any other user's vote in this thread.
One comment per user.

Purpose

Following community comments and the discussions (which can be found here: 04 Part 1, 04 Part 2, 05 Part 1, 05 Part 2, Vote Discussion 04, Vote Discussion 05), it has become apparent that a large population of the community wishes for "The Things Dr Bright Is Not Allowed To Do At The Foundation", hereafter referred to as "The List", to be deleted. The exact nature of the process following the deletion has been hotly contested, but has narrowed down to a few options. The purpose of this vote is to authorize staff to take whichever actions the community wants in regards to The List.

The Vote

This staff vote is open to Operational Staff and Administrators - all Junior and Adjunct Staff and users may vote on this via the mainsite.

NOTE: Please vote only on Vote 1 here. All Vote 2 votes should be made on the mainsite mirror of this vote. You may mirror your Vote 1 votes there as well, but they will only be counted here.

This vote will consist of two parts. The first is to establish either the approval or disapproval of the deletion of "The Things Dr Bright Is Not Allowed To Do At The Foundation". The second is contingent upon the approval of the deletion of The List.

Vote 1: Should The List be Deleted?

Passing of this vote will result in the immediate deletion of The List via summary deletion. This will require that normal processes for summary deletion be followed.

This vote will take the form of a Yes or No. Staff and non-staff votes will be counted separately.

In order for this vote to pass it must have each of the following:

A super-majority (60%) of voting staff vote in favor of it.
A minimum quorum of 50% of staff participation.
A super-majority (60%) of voting non-staff, mainsite members vote in favor of it.

Vote 2: Should any other action be taken by staff beyond the deletion of The List?

This vote will consist of three options, each effecting different outcomes. These options are:

No action beyond deletion. If this option passes The List will simply be deleted and discussion will end.
Replace the page with some sort of warning or message. This may take the form of a link to further resources or be hosted entirely on the page. If this option passes further discussion will be held to decide details.
Replace the page with a new list featuring a new character. This may take any of multiple different formats and characters that have been proposed. This option could also include a warning or message. If this option passes further discussion will be held to decide details.

This vote will follow an instant-runoff format with staff and non-staff votes being counted collectively. If Vote 1 fails to pass the results of this vote will be null and void, and they will not be tallied.

Voters will rank their preferences from 1 to 3, with 1 being the most favorable.

In tallying the votes the following process will be followed:

1. All 1st preference votes will be counted.
2. The option with the most 1st preference votes will be safeguarded.
3. All 1st preference votes will again be counted ignoring the safeguarded option.

For example: If option A was safeguarded and a voter had voted the following: A-1st, B-2nd, C-3rd - their 2nd preference will now be counted as their 1st, and a vote for B will be tallied.

4. The option with the fewest resulting votes will be eliminated.
5. If two options remain and one has greater than 50% of votes, it will be the selected option. If more than two options remain, repeat from step 1.
6. If there is a tie amongst the final two options, then another tally will be carried out. This tally will count only the 2nd preferences ignoring the eliminated options.
7. If one of the two remaining options has greater than 50% of votes, it will be the selected option.
8. If there is a tie between the final two options amongst the total user vote, that tie will be broken by counting only staff votes.
9. If the tie persists it will be broken by counting only Administrator votes.
10. If a tie persists at all levels, another vote will be held after a period of two weeks from the closing of this vote.
