Noting for records-keeping that I've recently received some verging on aggressive PMs from Sir Bariton (account age 12 days):
Hello Zyn,
I hope I have reached the right person.I'm a great fan of SCP since many years and I have written a couple of stories that I never had reviewed. I have finally written something and I want it to be reviewed/greenlighted/posted. I'm sorry to say that my enthusiasm is all but crushed to learn there are so many rules, links, pages, boards and things that needs to be done. I have tried to put my finished SCP work on draft forum but I get "error, no permission to start thread" and I have tried to put it on something about having my idea reviewed but also, "error, no permission".
I have already finished but understand I need greenlighting - but how will that become reality when I can't put my work anywhere for review and critique?
I finished my SCP today and was very happy to finally show it but this is very cumbersome and makes me kind of unhappy. What am I to do? I'm not admin, site manager or moderator so I can't post my work anywhere.
Sorry for all the complaining but I'm at a loss here. Can you please guide me or perhaps give me permission to submit for review? I was really enthusiastic about this!
/Dr Bariton Whineyarse

Only members of the SCP wiki site can interact with the forums. To apply for site membership, please follow the instructions on the Join the Site page.
I have tried to put my finished SCP work on draft forum
Please note that as a first-time author, you would need two greenlights before you can use the draft forum. Please note that greenlights are given on concepts, NOT drafts. You can refer to the diagram in this thread for more information: https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-13282684/required-reading:how-to-use-this-forum-ideas
If you're unsure of how to post in the forums, you can look at other authors' threads for examples.
They seem to have then applied to the site and not read/followed the instructions:
Hello again,
and thank you for your reply.I did read my "welcome message" again and I got to understand that having an account and being a member is not the same thing? I don't understand why that is but I read through MANY hours of material and then found the "submit application". There was a limited amount of letters so it was short and a bit meaningless message. I got the reply that I was declined. WHY?
Is SCP Foundation a true branch of, for example, the US government now? To become cleared for something by the government IRL is far easier and comprehensible than trying to post a story in this forum. When I was a member here about 8-10 yrs ago, it was nothing like this (forgot my login info and don't have the same e-mail address as then) and I could have my stories reviewed with no issues. You can't become a member by reading a lot of material. You can't become a member by applying for membership. I have read "Joining the site" and that didn't help, I got declined. I just want to post a/n SCP, not apply to build an anti-matter bomb. I want to post stories but nothing on how I get around to do that makes any sense. Is this site no longer interested in new people joining? I followed your link and I read that yesterday - that's how I came to e-mail you!
I loved the SCP Foundation site and I want to be a member to contribute but this whole affair has colored my opinion of it. It's not reasonable that joining a creative writing forum should be this difficult, cumbersome and incomprehensible.
Regards,
Bariton, non-member, declined for reasons unknown

From the join the site page: https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/system:join
The SCP Wiki is hosted on a platform called Wikidot, which includes within it a number of other wikis: A DnD community wiki, Half-Life mod lists, a comprehensive detailing of every concert Bruce Springsteen has ever done for some reason… Within those, stands the SCP Wiki as well, so to join you'll first need to make a Wikidot account, and then apply for an SCP Wiki membership.

If you send me a copy of the application you submitted, I can check if it meets criteria or not. The Join the Site page covers what's expected for a site application to be accepted.

The SCP Foundation is a fictional organization, and the SCP wiki application process is in place to ensure that site members read (or at least are aware of and know where to find) the rules that site members are expected to adhere to while using the site.
Not sure if they've been PMing anyone else as insistently, so this is a heads-up in case they ask the same questions of other staff members.
