j brian has a history of spamming comments and ignoring reviewer feedback, to the point where complaints were made about their behavior.

In a concept thread of theirs, they were told repeatedly not to spam their thread (including a staff post noting that further spam may result in membership revocation), and also directed to the Questions Desk forum for their queries unrelated to the concept being critiqued. They then posted another thread bump, ignoring instructions both on the spamposting and usage of Questions Desk.

an hour after the first PM, I got another one:

I sent a reply to the second message:

Look at the timestamp of the revocation notice, and add 24 hours to the time. Given that the previous message you sent is from just an hour ago and the message is the same, yes, I would say you are spamming.

ETA: they sent me another two messages, this time two minutes apart.

The notice seems to have been from “03:02” what does that mean, exactly.

The notice seems to be from 03:12. What does that mean?

If you are using the 12-hour timekeeping system, that means the notice was sent at 3:12am or 3:12pm your timezone. On the 24-hour timekeeping system, that would be 3:12am. The 24 hours would elapse at the same time one day later.

Also, when it comes to spamming, how much is considered spamming and also, it seems that I can’t rejoin the site because I have “already applied”

It depends on the context. Posting multiple comments in succession and repeatedly replying to your own posts is considered spamming, as doing both generates more posts than are needed to convey the same information. If you find yourself getting impatient for responses, consider using the IRC chatrooms for real-time discussion.

You need to withdraw your previous application first, in the "applications" section of your wikidot messages center.

Okay, so I deleted it, so now what?

I asked them for their grade level, and over the course of multiple messages, received the following responses:

My grade: 10th grade. Age: 17

(I asked if they were in the United States schooling system)

Correct!

(I noted that 17 would be the age for 12th grade in the US)

Well, I was in preschool and in young fives when I was turning 5, a lot older than most average kids during preschool.

Another reply:

Now that I have confirmed my age and grade, what do I do now?

I sent back:

Please submit a new application by following the instructions on the Join the Site page. I will not be helping you any further with the application process.

j-brian / j_brian / j brian decided it was a good idea to edit my article and add tags to "fix the grammar". Didn't tell me and an admin removed his tags, and I only just noticed and completely fixed his changes. He also left in 2 spaces (where the word he removed used to be) meaning he didn't even do what he tried to do well. Please do not do things like this again, very uncool. I'm fine if someone else wants to fix grammar or spelling in my article, but you do absolutely need to ask first. Not cool dude.

It may be necessary to tell the user that they are no longer permitted to make changes (not even grammar or formatting fixes) to pages they didn't write, unless they have direct permission from the author.

I have realized the sins that I committed and how I spammed, which is by replying to my own post. I will post this as a test to see if I am spamming or not. Let me know if I am spamming so that I can avoid spamming in the future.

As this constitutes spamming, the same behavior that they had received prior discipline for, it is time to bring the hammer down with a ban. Advocating for a short ban [1 week], per standard escalation.

It's not an issue of post length. It's your behavior. You repeatedly post and repost/bump the same threads/concepts over and over, despite being told to stop by staff.

So, when users are banned, they just get banned from the wiki permanently, but how about we punish rule breakers more creatively while also perma-banning them?

So, I created the TIOS wiki, a sort of spin-off of the SCP Foundation, but do you know how I can attract members to it? Also, how can I be agood administrator?
