Autumn Promotions 2021
See Promotion-Procedure and Promotions-Policy for how these promotions will be generally handled.
These are votes of confidence. If you are unfamiliar or on the fence about someone, vote NO. Only vote yes if the candidate has your confidence and genuinely feels ready for promotion in your mind.
Please post even if you are abstaining from voting.
Staff may abstain from voting if it is in regards to a Junior Staff member moving to Operational Staff only. If more than one third of staff abstain on a user, and/or less than 60 per cent of voters say yes, this is treated as a no. I will be rounding down.
This promotion vote will end in:

Captain/Team: |
DrBleep (MAST) |
Why: |
Edna has been junior staff for approximately 3 years, in which time they have participated in a widely ranging and varied number of staff tasks and teams, ranging from working on chatstaff, to their current work within MAST. I've had the pleasure of watching Edna grow as a person during that time, she's matured significantly, and learned to balance their mental health with staffwork. Their work ethic is strong, and they've done a surprising amount even with school and real life buzzing around them. I'm very happy with where Edna is, and I think they are ready to become operational staff. http://scp-sandbox-3.wikidot.com/edna-js-sandbox |
Optional areas of improvement: |
At times Edna can take comments and statements a little personally. I've seen remarkable improvement on this front, but I want to see her continue growing, and I'm confident she will stepping up to this next level. |

ProcyonLotor (CO) |
Why: |
As Bleep mentioned, Edna is one of our longest-running junior staffers and she has exhibited a considerable amount of growth both as a staff member and as a person during that time. Additionally, she is a dedicated worker with an extensive portfolio of staff work that includes site news, multiple contests, and introductions. She is more than ready to become a member of operational staff. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
I have no concerns about Edna at this time. |
Junior Staff Member: |
EstrellaYoshte |
Captain/Team: |
DrBleep (MAST) |
Why: |
I have a hard time describing just how amazing Estrella has been as a junior staffer. Very few people I've known in my time as a captain, much less as a staffer, display the level of willingness and initiative to go after creative policy concepts, and demonstrate the sheer willpower to commit and follow through on multiple projects. Estrella has been an extra hand in almost every sub-section of MAST, and before they even joined staff she had been making small grammar/typo/formatting edits on the site for years independent of staff, but of the kind of high quality maintenance work that I would expect from a staffer. Estrella often brings unique viewpoints to the table, and has opinions while I don't always agree with, are invaluable to listen and consider, and have often led to tweaks in standard procedure internally. I strongly support them for promotion. http://scpdsandbox.wikidot.com/estrellayoshte-s-empty-space |
Optional areas of improvement: |
I don't really have much commentary on Estrella's needed areas of improvement at this time. |

Captain/Team: |
aismallard stormbreath (Tech) |
Why: |
Estrella has been a wonderful staffer on Tech, bringing forward discovered issues, localizing themes or components, and offering insight on tag and CSS policy. They have been operating at an operational staff level for some time, and I feel confidence that, if promoted, she will adjust well to the role well. |

Junior Staff Member: |
HarryBlank |
Captain/Team: |
DrBleep (MAST) |
Why: |
Harry has been a cornerstone driver of the Collections subteam of MAST since very near its inception. He is responsible for cataloguing a staggering 8.5% of the tales currently on the wiki, that's 359 tales for those bad at math, which is currently 20% of collections total progress, which is just above 40% of the total tales on the site. Harry is thus a massive contributor to that overall effort. In addition to this, Harry has done extensive work with the Licensing team, the recap team, and has recently really begun digging into policy thought and formulation, which are ideal qualities for operational staff. Harry is clearly passionate about the work he does, and this is always great to see in staff candidates. http://scp-sandbox-3.wikidot.com/harry-s-cv |
Optional areas of improvement: |
Harry has, previously, engaged in less than ideal dogpiling behavior when it comes to his own articles and dissenting/critical opinions. I have seen marked improvement in this area, but I would encourage him to continue to approach critical feedback and reception, no matter how frivolous, with more care, especially now that he is potentially rising into staff where behavioral expectations will be elevated. |

Fabledtiefling does not match any existing user name |
Captain/Team: |
DrBleep (MAST) |
Why: |
Wow, what a candidate. In the world of community administration, previous experience goes a long long way, and can drastically inform how a user is going to react and behave in the present of adversity or disagreement. Fabled is a reddit moderator for the official Pokemon subreddit. That level of community management experience cannot begin to be understated and it would be a woeful and sinful thing to allow Fabled to languish as junior staff with that sort of experience under their belt. I mostly grabbed Fabled out of IRC for MAST because I saw their passion for what they were doing at the time, IE critiqueing, and our admittedly loathfully lacking infrastructure at the time for IRC critt meant they were unlikely to get much notice from other staff teams. Admittedly, MAST has not been much of their foci in terms of staffwork, as the critt teams have picked him up, though he has contributed to collections. I am honestly fine with this as he more than makes up for this deficit in his head for policy and ideas. |

Captain/Team: |
Zyn (Forum Critt) |
Why: |
Fabled is an absolute critique powerhouse, and is frequently one of the most active reviewers responding to a wide variety of concepts. Fabled additionally has a solid grasp of forum moderation skills, and can approach high-tension situations with tact and grace (particularly when de-escalation is needed). Fabled additionally works extremely well within groups, and communicates well with both myself and other staff members when completing joint tasks. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
More of a thing to keep in mind than to actively improve—Fabled does post a LOT of feedback in pretty much any given week, so it's good to be mindful of preventing burnout and take breaks. :) |
Junior Staff Member: |
tawnyowljones (Forum Critt) |
Captain/Team: |
Zyn (Forum Critt) |
Why: |
tawnyowljones has helped a lot with keeping the Writing Help forums tidy with posts reminding about the guidelines, and is one of the few Butterfly Squad Roster reviewers who has specifically noted enjoyment of reading long drafts. I really appreciate tawny reaching out to me to ask questions and obtain clarification on Forum Crit duties and policy; tawny is consistently pleasant to interact with and a good example for new reviewers. Additionally, tawny participated in two mentorship Flights in June of this year, as both a mentee and a mentor (of two mentees). |
Optional areas of improvement: |
Just a small reminder to set and stick to firm boundaries when it comes to handling multiple critique requests at a time, especially for line-by-line requests for long drafts. tawny has done a good job of keeping IRL commitments prioritized, so this is more of a thing to continue keeping in mind for the future should weekly requests tick up. |
To Moderator:
This is an open vote for operational staff and above.
Below is a suggestion regarding an OPERATIONAL STAFF MEMBER whose Captain has nominated to be voted upwards to MODERATOR. Please read the commentary provided by Team Captain in order to help your judgement regarding these staff. If you feel they have displayed readiness, vote yes. If they are not ready, vote no; please explain your reasoning.
Operational Staff Member: |
UncertaintyCrossing |
Captain/Team: |
Yossipossi / LadyKatie (IO) |
Why: |
Uncertainty has been an excellent Vice-Captain for Internet Outreach since his promotion to the position. Besides managing the Facebook, Uncertainty has also helped improve the Wiki's relationship with its artists, Wanderer's Library, and other groups. He makes a strong candidate for Moderator, and deserves the spot entirely. |
Optional areas of improvement: |

Operational Staff Member: |
UncertaintyCrossing |
Captain/Team: |
ProcyonLotor (CO) |
Why: |
In addition to his many duties on IO, Crossing has been a major boon to CO in his capacity as a member of Introductions, Site News, and as an artistic consultant. His cool temperament, strong work ethic, and keen insight make him a fantastic candidate for wiki moderator. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
|
Operational Staff Member: |
Joreth |
Captain/Team: |
Yossipossi / LadyKatie (IO) |
Why: |
Joreth has been a key figure in helping to maintain Internet Outreach and push for new and inventive ideas. Beyond simply helping to run and revitalize the Reddit, he has also proposed numerous projects which have been beneficial to the team, and potentially the Wiki as a whole. He also has prior experience as a staffer before rejoining staff this year, making him a perfect candidate for moderator. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
|
Operational Staff Member: |
Vivarium |
Captain/Team: |
DrBleep (MAST) |
Why: |
Vivarium is an insane staffer. Legitimately, he is probably the closest approximation to another Bleep as staff is going to see for a while. Since his promotion to operational staff, he rose to section head of wikiwalk, taking over for Stormbreath when they could no longer drive the initiative, and instantly picked up and pushed the project into cruising speed where it now sees regular progress. Whilst I was on my 3-week sabbatical, Vivarium essentially stepped into help with tagging, and filled multiple roles acting as a de-facto vice and arguably team captain while I was away. It is exceptionally rare to see a staffer show that level of command and initiative in stepping in to plug and fill leadership holes that need to. On the community front, Viv has been composed, and diplomatic in the face of many different situations, including hostile conversations, and represented staff well. If these weren’t reasons to vote Viv in as moderator, I made him a vice captain of MAST. |
Optional areas of improvement: |
At times I worry that Viv will burn out, but they have indicated to me that they are making time for themselves so as to avoid this, so my concerns may be unfounded. |
Operational Staff Member: |
pr0m37h3um |
Captain/Team: |
DrBleep (MAST) |
Why: |
I am primarily putting Prom up for moderator due to two factors. 1) In the face of incredibly tense and hostile discussions during policy debate and vote for the recap teams and multiple other issues, Prom has been an incredibly reasonable and malleable voice for advocating their position while listening to the points of the other side. Prom is not quick to buckle down hard on their values, but stops to consider and listen, and think about how to approach problems to address as many angles as possible, and goes out of their way to ensure they do everything in their power to make salient, and successful policy. This is an invaluable skill in promoting and ensuring stable, long term, and sustainable policy formulation. They have also stepped in while Modulum is away to fill the gap of section head of Collab log pruning, one of the more challenging portions of MAST to handle due to the complexity of authorial purview and janitorial rights. http://scpdsandbox.wikidot.com/prometheus-promotions-sandbox-2 |
Optional areas of improvement: |
I don’t really have much in the way of areas of improvement other than to encourage them to not be afraid to make their personal opinions and stances more clearly known in open discussion, to both those who support them and those who oppose them. |
Operational Staff Member: |
DrAkimoto |
Captain/Team: |
Yossipossi / LadyKatie (IO) |
Why: |
DrAkimoto has been a valuable asset for the Internet Outreach Team, running the Facebook and Instagram alongside Uncertainty. He has proposed numerous initiatives that indicate a very fine sense of how the outer fandom runs and how to help promote lesser-known quality works, as well as exposing the fandom to lore which may otherwise be dense or inaccessible. http://grave-box.wikidot.com/drakimotostaffchart |
Optional areas of improvement: |
Akimoto does not participate in much discussion policy-wise, but does vote on 05 proposals. In the future, it may be beneficial for them to actively contribute to discussion more. |
Vote YES or NO. Someone who you are ambivalent to should not receive your vote of confidence for staff. If you don't know who someone is, then I invite you to educate yourself and get to know their work before voting.
