Early Year Promos 2021
These are votes of confidence. If you are unfamiliar or on the fence about someone, vote NO. Only vote yes if the candidate has your confidence and genuinely feels ready for promotion in your mind.
Please post even if you are abstaining from voting.
As a reminder, we established a new bit of policy: Staff may abstain from voting if it is in regards to a Junior Staff member moving to Operational Staff only. If more than one third of staff abstain on a user, and/or less than 60 per cent of voters say yes, this is treated as a no. I will be rounding down.
Interviews of the JS members and potential moderators were held by the relevant subteam of MAST. Thank you to all who helped out. Interview responses are available to staff upon request.
This promotion vote will end in:
Operational Staff Voting:
This is an open vote for all staff members.
Below is a group of suggestions regarding JUNIOR STAFF who Team Captains have nominated to be voted upwards to OPERATIONAL STAFF. Please read the commentary provided in order to help your judgement regarding these staff. If you feel they have displayed readiness, vote yes. If they are not ready, vote no; please explain your reasoning.
Junior Staff Member: | Hexick |
Captain/Team: | DrBleep (MAST) |
Why: | Hexick hasn't been with MAST very long, but they have a gargantuan list of accomplishments and projects on which they have been involved in their capacity on other staff teams. They do incredible, and dedicated work with a phenominal work ethic. They are among my most active junior staff, constantly notifying people of articles that are ready for deletion, tagging articles, and hungry for work. |
Junior Staff Member: | OptimisticLucio |
Captain/Team: | Modern_Erasmus (Internet Outreach) |
Why: | Lucio has quietly been doing great work on IO for a while now, and I believe that work and the good judgement exercised therein merits promotion to Op staff. |

To Moderator:
This is a closed vote, only open to Moderators and Administrators.
Below is a suggestion regarding an OPERATIONAL STAFF MEMBER whose Captain has nominated to be voted upwards to MODERATOR. Please read the commentary provided by Team Captain in order to help your judgement regarding these staff. If you feel they have displayed readiness, vote yes. If they are not ready, vote no; please explain your reasoning.
Operational Staff Member: | cybersqyd |
Captain/Team: | Zyn (Forum Crit) |
Why: | cybersqyd is consistently one of the most active members of Forum Crit, both when providing feedback and keeping other team members in the loop regarding users of interest or threads that need to be locked or trimmed. Ver style of critique is approachable and well-applied to both concepts and drafts. Additionally, ver patience and expertise is extremely appreciated, and being in a different timezone to address the forums during generally low-activity hours is extremely helpful as well. |
Optional areas of improvement: | A small thing, but I would encourage ver to be a bit more picky when it comes to reviewing material. I would recommend ve hold off on giving a critique if a thread contains an excess of simple errors; instead, ask the author to revise their material first and provide the critique when it is clear the author will put effort into their writing when prompted. |
Operational Staff Member: | Deadly Bread |
Captain/Team: | DrBleep (MAST) |
Why: | Bread is a WORKHORSE. When Ais took over as my first Vice-Captain, Bread stepped up and took on the role of Tagging section head almost immediately. Bread compiled a chart, regularly keeps track of who's tagging what, and overall is involved in other moderator duties such as keeping track of pages ready to be deleted, and just being a regular force in helping MAST keep staff and non-staff pages updated. I understand that 2 cycles after being promoted is pretty soon for a Moderator promotion, but Bread is one of our most productive operational staff members who would greatly benefit from Moderator. Operational Staff Member: | MalyceGraves |
Captain/Team: | DrBleep (MAST) |
Why: | I'm really and truly not going to provide an indepth reason here. MalyceGraves is everywhere. I almost forgot that they werem’t a moderator, because their conduct as staff is so beyond the pale, and above and beyond that the concept of them not already being a moderator is rather bewildering. To show you I'm not full of bluster: Link |
Optional areas of improvement: | Malyce works like crazy and should give themself a break every now and then. |
Operational Staff Member: | MalyceGraves |
Captain/Team: | taylor_itkin and Procyon Lotor (Community Outreach) |
Why: | Malyce does more work than most people on staff combined and does so with a huge amount of commitment and focus on detail. I cannot think of anyone I have ever seen more qualified for moderator. |
Operational Staff Member: | N_Aepic_Fael does not match any existing user name |
Captain/Team: | Zyn (Forum Criticism) |
Why: | Naepic is readily reachable via multiple channels of contact, and has done a great job in the last few months handling difficult forum threads, usually involving vehement authors or questionable topics. He takes care to check in before posting in staff capacity, and I've asked him a few times for sanity checks when I encounter strange threads while cleaning up the forums. As an aside, I believe he's also done some excellent work for images. |
Optional areas of improvement: | Seeing as I'm putting forth the recommendation as part of Forum Crit, I would like to see Naepic balance his activity a bit differently and be a bit more active in the forums moving forward. I know he's quite active in chat however, in recent weeks his forum activity has dropped off in comparison. |

Vote YES or NO. Someone who you are ambivalent to should not receive your vote of confidence for staff. If you don't know who someone is, then I invite you to educate yourself and get to know their work before voting.
