Since we enabled HTTPS on our site, a number of embedded resources throughout the wiki will no longer load due to security restrictions concerning mixed active content. One such issue was the redirect snippet, utilized in the implementation of our random redirect pages, Random SCP and Random Tale.

Because these pages had no other content on it, users visiting from HTTPS would not be redirected but simply be presented with a blank page. This is confusing and provides for rather poor user experience.

As a result, Tech has added direct links to the random SCP or tale to the ListPages, so that even if a redirect does not occur, the user can click through to the story they wish to visit. Here's what Random SCP looks like if redirects are disabled:

In some browsers it is possible to make the automatic redirects work.

The current version of the Chrome browser quietly blocks some redirects and sometimes just puts up a little icon in the URL bar [screenshot]. One can click on that icon and select the "Always allow pop-ups and redirects from domain" option, restoring the behavior of automatically redirecting the reader to an SCP page every time they click the Random SCP link in the wiki's sidebar.

Most other browsers are made on the same base as Chrome, so they too might have a similar button in the URL bar with an option to unblock redirects.

Thanks to Helmut_pdorf, the originating snippet was edited to use an HTTPS iframe. The redirect snippet now functions on both HTTP and HTTPS.
Additionally, for unclear reasons, the Wikidot include mangles the snippet when the added "Random SCP/Tale/Page:" text is added.

Consequently, I have removed this text, and the page now redirects directly. Pages Random SCP (noredirect), Random Tale (noredirect), and Random Page (noredirect) were edited.

If users report issues, please forward the complaint to the Tech Team so we can investigate.
