So, last night, dude called Brogaine comes in and this happens:

Which, well, we all fuck up and post in the wrong channel sometimes (or at least I certainly have), but I feel the last comment is particularly telling.
So, I more or less decide to take most of the day off today, check back in to 19, and the following had happened:

Of particular note is that it takes three "stop messaging me" from the aggrieved user to have this guy get the point. It shouldn't take more than one, and anything over two is completely unacceptable.

I'd received logs in PM in between Decibelle saying she was giving it to another op and my stepping in, and had decided (along with the handful of other ops and hops present) that a 24 hour was called for. Perhaps more, honestly. I wouldn't be averse to extending it, but 24 hour's what it is now.
I'm putting it in Alex to expire on the eighth because whenever we use a manual ban nowadays it seems to bite us in the ass, but please remove the banline at ~7 EST on the 7th.

ee: Scantron pointed out that a segment of the host (namely 3097AE63.IP) shows up in the host of permanently banned user bigboi (as well as one other random user named blendo who shows up in a chat snippet from several years ago). While I'm not 100% certain they're the same user (or even believe it to be probable), the lack of self/control/inhibition/filter (whether intentional or accidental, I care not to guess) strongly reminds me of bigboi, but I suppose I could say that of a lot of trolls. Something to be aware of, at least.

I deliberately did not read this thread, as with some other chat threads, because I don't wish to micromanage, but this was brought up to me by a user, so I'm making a post.

This is where the user should've been banned. They were clearly trolling, to be disruptive. However, Kaktus delivering a warning was acceptable if we want to be lenient, but if so, then any closely following incident should have resulted in a ban, given that they, well, clearly weren't listening. This is what happened, and that's fine.

I'm clarifying this because there was user confusion; apparently some users were told that there was no grounds for a ban here. There was; this was a case of leniency, nothing else.

The next part, however, is a much bigger problem:

Of particular note is that it takes three "stop messaging me" from the aggrieved user to have this guy get the point. It shouldn't take more than one, and anything over two is completely unacceptable.

This is literally harassment and should have resulted in an permanent ban as soon as we became aware of it.

So… tl;dr, this user is now permanently banned.
