Well, it's time to formally do what's been coming for a while. I'm officially retiring/leaving/I-don't-actually-know, folks.

Business-y things: Riemann will be the new Rewrite Captain (I'm so, so sorry, Rewrite Team). Hopefully my other positions will be filled at some point soon.

Reason-y things: My activity is nowhere near where it was at my peak, and this decision has been coming for like, half a year already. My activity level sucks right now, (again, sorry Rewrite Team), and I'm about to start college at a place not exactly known for its easy grading, in a major that quite literally sucks your soul away. So, before I become the absentee parent of staff, making promises to be around but never actually following through on them, I've decided to just drop out while I still can.

I'll swing by when I can, and (unless Kens decides otherwise) I should still be modding the subreddit. Can't guarantee when I can be around, but I'll say hello if I have some time in between academic torture sessions. Most of you have me on Facebook (if you don't, feel free to add me), and Riemann, kaktus, and Roget have my number. Assorted people have me on Steam.

It's been a good run, with almost 2 years on the site, and a year and a half of being staff. I've had a lot of fun here.

So long, and thanks for all the fish upvotes shitposts memories.

Good bye for now, but trust me, you'll find you have a lot of periods of free time during your studies. So what that translates to is you'd better come back to visit. >:|

Also, it's probably good that you're doing this now, and now like what I did…(thank you staff for not getting on my ass about things)

Some business: You can stay as a mod on Reddit. We don't get that much traffic usually, and the community is great at self-moderating.

In general, engineering is a hard major, but you'll do great. Especially at the school you're going to, where I will be forever jealous and envious of. I know you haven't asked for this, but I figure I might as well also take this time to get on a soapbox and tell you a few words of advice. I'm pulling the seniority card on you, so you'd better listen.

1. Success is relative. Don't use your classmates as a measuring stick. You'll find people who can drink and party every night and pull out a 4.0 GPA their first year. Others will spend all their time studying and not do as well as they hope. Work at your own pace, and find out what works for you and what doesn't.
2. Ask for help if you need it. I didn't realize this until my junior year. Professors, TA's, friends, we're all there if you need help.
3. Go to class.
4. GPA isn't everything. My GPA was shit, but I still landed a job as an R&D process engineer. If you don't do in a class as well as you did, so long as you've tried your best, don't beat yourself up over it.
5. Try to avoid all-nighters. They're bad.
6. Did I mention go to class?
7. No, seriously, go to class.
8. Don't spend wei too much time on the computer. Make friends and connections.
9. Enjoy your time. College can be fun. It's what you make of it.
