Ban enacted, PM sent:
This is a notification from the SCP Foundation. Per staff consensus, you have received a permanent ban for posting what amounted to a thinly-veiled suicide threat.
If you would like to appeal for the ban to be shortened or lifted, you may do so by notifying a staff member on the Disciplinary Team.
Got a PM response:
Hello Zyn.
I bet you remember me. T'was banned from the wiki for immaturity and a suicide threat. I have made an appeal below to shorten my ban.
I have seen therapy for my actions. My suicide threat was very real. I was in a "blue state," if you will.
My therapist, Dr. Wohl, has really started to help me get on the right track. I am still taking therapy, but I can really start to feel my self improve. I posted that in the first place because I thought I would get a little empathy from the community to help me. The place is filled with educated people. But if I want help, I should really call the hotline instead of making a post online. I was stupid to make that mistake.
My immaturity is really something I am starting to control. Nobody wants to grow up. You're only young once. I sometimes forget that I am moving on in my life, and I'm not twelve. I've been looking for jobs that could really help me with this issue, and I'm starting to look at IT. I can really change the way I act here because writing is one of my passions. I don't want to screw it up for a stupid reason.I am mainly requesting that my ban only be shortened, not entirely revoked. But if you could revoke it, that would make me happy.

Thoughts?
I'm of the opinion that a full year should pass before we let them back in.
I am of this mindset. I am glad they are getting help and am looking forward to their participation in the future, but right now it has been too recent of a time to discern.
Living the dream, or dreaming the life?
Agreed

To clarify, Conwell, you want to shorten this from permanent to a year?
Nah, but I am open to them appealing in a year.
Relayed the message about alloying an appeal in a year (which is typically standard process for permabans, if memory serves).
Received this reply:
Understandable. Have a nice day.
Got a PM:
Heyo, not so sure if you remember me, but I was banned from the wiki in January of 2020, and I was wondering if I could appeal now?

Sent back:
| There's still about a week left until you may appeal your permanent ban. You may appeal on January 14th. |
User entered #Site17 to request an appeal of their ban on 8/8/2021. I fielded the appeal and ported it to the Disc team chat, where it was accepted without dissenting opinion. I am contacting the user via PM to let them know of our decision.
Noting that they re-applied for the site, but their application did not meet criteria so it was declined.
ETA 08/24/21: Noting that they re-applied for the site again, and were declined again. Details made available to chatstaff.
