So I loved reading through these old ones a lot, but I feel like we should have another one since it has been three years from the last one. Troy told me to write a proposal (on 05, presumably), so here I am!
I could volunteer to judge and write the first entry to kick things off. I'd probably need someone to help run it with me and in case I can't be on to run things. The rules would be largely the same as the last one, with minor differences:
- Whoever guesses an entry correctly first (more on that below) will pick an SCP to write a mini-tale about (no more than 500 words). If someone doesn't want to write, they shouldn't guess. The entry needs to be written within five days. If it doesn't happen, a judge will step in and write an entry for the person based on the SCP.1
- While not required, a few red herrings are definitely encouraged, so long as the final solution is the most likely/most obvious answer. The answer doesn't need to be obvious, but it definitely has to be guessable, or at least have something clear about the connection to the answer at hand.
- The character "speaking" must die at the end and the entry must end with "And then I died.". It might not be from the SCP in question, so long as their exposure caused it somehow.
- If no one guesses the SCP after a week, congrats to the author! They can write another one (but no more than two in a row).
- If someone is writing an entry, they should send a message to one of the judges so the judges can know what the SCP in question is. Judges can help for proofreading. The judges, then, can't actually guess or give the game away.
To guess:
- A person sends a PM to one of the judges on IRC or on Wikidot. A person only gets one guess.
- If they guess right, they win and write the next entry!
What do you guys think? Sounds fun to start up again? :D
