I got a PM yesterday from a user named Keylasho:

Hello my name is [blanked]. I am doing an English paper about the SCP website. I was wondering if you or someone you know that work for the site be willling to do an Interview this weekend?

Could you give me some more information about the interview? Most of the site staff members are rather busy on the weekends, so it would help for us to know the following:

1. How will you conduct the interview? (chat, PM, email, etc.)
2. How long will the interview be?
3. What times are you available to do the interview?
4. Is there anything that the interviewee should prepare beforehand?

Also, just so you know, while the site staff is responsible for administrative functions, no one is actually paid for the work they do. Are you specifically looking to interview volunteers?

If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me.

I just need to interview someone for my english project, and volunteers are ok they do not have to be paid. The interview should not take very long. I was thinking I could just email my questions and they can be answered when ever the person is free. I would just be sending them this weekend. There shouldn't be anything that they need before hand, I am just looking for infomation about the website and how it works.

I see. In that case, I'll ask around. I recommend doing the interview through wikidot PM rather than email, though.

Also, are you looking for responses from any site staff? We have junior staff, operational staff, moderators, and administrators, and you're likely to get different responses from each level of staff if you ask opinion questions.

Thoughts? Also, if anyone's uncomfortable with the way I handled this, feel free to let me know. I wasn't totally on board with agreeing outright to the interview, since this user doesn't have any site activity I can gauge behavior on. I'd rather that the interview, if/when it happens, is done with minimal exchange of personal info.

Naw, it seems good. Maybe if they respond again it would also be worth noting that we have different teams that focus on different aspects of the site.

I'd be willing to do it as well. I've got the background in place for stuff like this. Or, if you want to suggest it, we can organize a five or six person tiny chat, grab an admin or two, some mods, some oldies and newbies, and have a round table discussion on everything.

I like this idea a lot, but it might be a bit overwhelming.

The person mentioned wanting to do a quick email thing, though. Also, unless someone's going to take notes, a tinychat might be tough to use for an English paper…

Yes I've read those pages. I did not know there was different levels of staff members. But I don't think the level matters. And I forgot to add in message that I may need to do fallow up if the person does not mind. Thank you for helping me this.

Edit: Sent them a reply saying yes there is interest, and asking how many respondents they want for the paper.
