I can see your reasoning, but we still ask people not to do that.

The second post in particular is problematic. I do not want to see anyone, especially not a member without any staff authority, being dismissive of a new member like this, especially when said member took the time to explain their actions and their confusion (and moreover, acted correctly).

I staffposted, no official warning yet because I've seen Fae help out with the rest of the forums in keeping spam down, but this sort of curbstomp behavior is not good for the community at all. I'd much rather see people bring in a staff member to handle the scenario if something like this happens again.

I request that we drop the hammer with a ban next time something like this occurs. I dislike the faux-staff attitude exuded by this user. Coupled with their poor judgment, here and in the past, this needs to stop.

Noting that they PMed me after this happened and asked how to properly act next time. I sent them a reply that was essentially "let staff handle it".

The faux-staff attitude is definitely problematic, though I would like to see further examples of poor judgment in the past if we're going to move right to banning on next infraction.

Agreeing with Zyn. I'm not detecting the kind of malice that would motivate me to want to jump to a ban where simple correction will get the job done.
