As a general rule, we should try to avoid more than one or two ops dealing with a user at the same time. With lengthy conversations, more ops could jump on board, or if the ops already involved seem to need help.
Also as a general rule, don't automatically jump in and repeat something another op said for emphasis.
Obviously this kind of thing can be pretty ambiguous, but all ops and half-ops have access to super secret staff chat and can check with each other in real-time as a situation unfolds.
As usual, none of this applies to people who are unambiguously trolling. (Be sure it's not just someone being clueless!)
Basically all of this is because we don't actually want to terrify most users. Five ops jumping on a user whose age is in question (as an example) can definitely terrify them right out of our chatroom, which is a bummer if they're actually sixteen and shy or summat. And as a general rule ops being terrifying isn't a good way for a chat to be run.
