Agreeing on both counts: mildly annoying but not that bothersome, but also totally unnecessary. And, not gonna get too upset at someone who's just trying to be helpful.

I think it's because they've seen/heard Staff do it before, like during the lolFoundation purge. That, &/or they've learned that something is the "correct" way to do something (amnestics in this case), and feel that they're helping out by going through and fixing things. It's slightly annoying, but non-malicious, so it doesn't bother me really.

Got it. Having read comments in some discussion threads I was under the impression that we are now in the process of changing this site-wide, hence my edits in the articles I read. Given this seems not to be the case and that I've already had two people ask me not to change it in their articles (which means I'd have to check who the author is before making such a change), I think I'll just not bother any more.

So, a user named Pineapple of Despair has been making a lot of edits to various articles, changing amnesiac to amnestic. I've reverted all the changes he made, except for a couple articles.

http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-1082 This one kept giving me an error when I tried to revert it.

So, I sent him this PM:

Hey there. I'm Roget, senior staff member.

I've noticed that you've been making a lot of edits to various articles, changing amnesiac to amnestic. While this is technically the correct term, many authors prefer using the original "amnesiac" term. Please try to check with authors in the future before making any more edits like this. If you're unsure about whether an edit would count as major or not, please feel free to contact me or any other senior staff member.

I don't think he knew the edits he made were over the line, so I'm inclined to let this one go. He seems to have been a relatively helpful good otherwise. He did make a ridiculous number of edits though, so keep an eye out in case he acts up again.
