Since I'm a mod now, I'm just going to go and delete the pages/fix the links to the hub when I get home tomorrow. Do we want to remove the scp-fuel tag and tag Fragments as something else, or do we want to just remove the tag and give Fragments a new one?

(Fragments will be the only page with this tag after the pages are deleted)

I can say that I think we could probably go ahead and delete all the pages, using that wikidot thing that links to all the pages to find and correct all the pages that link to it. We could either keep the hub page as a redirect, or just make the visual records links all redirect to the new host with an explanation on the front page of the VR wiki.

I think that if we did that, it would lead to a whole bunch of dead links through the wiki that we'd have to go through and clean up. I can go through and find all the pages that link to the visual records pages if we decide to take that course of action.

Done. Should the pages be retagged as "admin" now that they no longer serve the SCP Fuel function, or would it be people looking for SCP Fuel to be able to find the redirects to the VR wiki? (Personally I lean towards the latter)

Yes, the line break is needed and yes, the file URL needs the "http://". I've had some issues with embedding when the link is to a file not on that page (I was linking the 630-J audio off my sandbox instead of the local), but if it's pointing to the file attached to that specific page, it should work.

I asked Mack if there was a way to localize 895 (I don't think there is; that will have to be an exception) and Yoric's photograph-whatever was left out too. Additionally, there are a couple that link to audio ot video files, and while I was able to successfully upload those files onto their respective pages, my Wikidot-fu is not strong enough to let me figure out how to actually embed them from a local source, so they link to users' individual Soundcloud or Vilely pages…which is less than ideal but better than a straight hotlink.

It is done.

I have localized everything on Jekeled's list. Every hotlink. Every sandbox link. I then went back through Most Recently Created and fixed everything made since Jekeled's list. It is done.

I am not responsible for any tales in pictures (you know what I mean) — I'm not going hunting for them. I fixed my one tale-with-pictures and that's my effort in that direction. I also noticed a few -Js with unlocalized pictures — I might get to those later, but I consider the main part of the work done. I intend to go through all articles created from this point forth and localize images when the author fails to do so, much as we do with tags. Of course, I still expect people who know better — hint, hint — to take care of their own stuff as much as possible.

UPDATE ADDENDUM:

Reject pointed out to me that I had missed the -Js today, so I went back and checked them all.

Turns out the only one that hotlinks was http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-1d6-j , so I uploaded all the files from that, and wrangled with panicked as other people wrangled with the javascript on the page.

Many thanks to Reject and Snowshoe for their help.

Double-checking the -EXs after this; and then the 001s. That should cover everything.

Edit: Those have been completed. Can't think of anything else I missed.

is the list of all offsite hotlinks, including most sandbox hotlinks. General trends that can be inferred from this include:

Tanhony and Eskobar hotlink to their sandboxes a lot
Newer SCPs are more likely to have hotlinks to other pages
Older SCPs tend to have their pictures in order
One SCP managed to hotlink to the "How to Write an SCP Guide" somehow. That should be fixed before that guide is ever deleted.

Blocks 002-799, 1000-1099, and 1500-1599 have been checked. All pages with those links have been identified and put aside, where I'll deal with them en masse when everything's been checked.

In addition, I've been keeping a list of all SCPs with offsite hotlinks, be it to sandbox or another website, period. I figure this may be a useful thing to have.

My husband is currently working on a script to scan large blocks of articles and pick out hotlinks. Still got some bugs to iron out at the moment because the ads at the bottom keep changing.

Find two or three people from staff to help you. You can just look at the page source and be fine.

VAE brought up a good point in chat; which is that some SCPs have pictures that are linked back to the visual records pages and that will be affected by their deletion.

Maybe just post an announcement or something warning everyone to check their SCPs for linked pictures like that?

The deed is done! The visual recprds pages on the SCP wiki can be deleted now, as all of their content is now being hosted on the visual records site. We can probably use the hub page to redirect people to the site, sort of like how we do the Archives.
