Additionally, I'm willing to help lock older pages (2+ years old?) by request for authors who prefer the "amnesiac" spelling.

ETA: kind of dropped the ball here, but the change has been made. Anyone with more eloquent phrasing for that section of the FAQ, I'm all ears if you have suggested changes.

To clarify, I am voting in my capacity as Junior Staff on the Forum Criticism team, as per Zyn's note on the first post.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but part of the reason for JS is to make sure they're ready to make policy decisions. There have been multiple JS in the past removed from JS for condict or judgement reasons that I'd rather not see determining policy for the entire wiki.

Junior Staff cannot participate in any staff votes unless otherwise stated, and are explicitly forbidden from voting on promotions and bans.

Should I have made it clear that I think JS should vote here, especially if they're site authors? I don't see why JS should be excluded from this particular vote.

Amnesiac is still my preferred. >:V

Like, it would have to be something an author would have to constantly be on guard with, if they choose to use the other one. I understand some people like one more than the other, but I don't see a need to adopt a policy like this in regards to how we deal with it. Can't we just say live and let live?

So the general staff consensus for this seemed to be "make amnestics the go-to word, don't actively try to fix older articles to change "amnesiac" out but let community members do so as they will, if authors have a preference they can revert edits/ask for a page lock/put in an invisible coding edit note".

Per this comment from the mainsite discussion:

My proposal is that staff does nothing proactive, but lets users make those edits at their leisure. Treat someone editing 'amnesiacs' to 'amnestics' like any other SPAG edit. As for authorial preference, the site rules state "You may undo edits to your own articles at will."

Anyway, most people weighed in already but I want to get a more formal count/vote in, since adopting the above will also mean changing one of the site's "how-to" pages. Code for the vote is here:
