If we are going to allow this, I agree with those suggesting it should be major milestones, such as 5 and 10 years, etc.

I like this idea personally, though I think we should keep it to just 5 and 10 year anniversaries. In addition, perhaps we could do a one time exception where branches just past five years already could get an announcement for their 6th or 7th anniversary so they don’t feel excluded.

As CO Captain, although not specifically the one in charge of front page/site news (which is ARD) I see no reason in theory why we can't do this.

In practice, however, site news tends to lag well behind the actual date for many reasons. And celebrating some and not others is just asking for trouble. If ARD and the site news subteam want to commit to getting the news updated for birthdays at the right time across all the branches, I am willing.

I feel the best option is we make a note on site's 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th, and 10th year anniversaries. Having everyone one every years feels a bit much, especially cause we haven't made much of a note about our own anniversaries, other than last year which was the 10th anniversary for 173.

So the La Fundación SCP international branch recently celebrated their 5-year anniversary. Jakuwoski approached me about having a front page news mention of it. I originally said I didn't think it was a good idea since we don't really do the same for other sites and there wasn't a celebratory even happening, but someone else went and added a news entry.

So as to not seem like we're favoring any one site over the others, Jakuwoski helped compile the following in a PM sent to me:

Thanks to the help from Yorick1, who kindly researched and sends me this information, here are some of the date of began from several branches:

• Russian Branch: June 27, 2010
• French Branch: March 21, 2012
• Polish Branch: August 31, 2012
• German Branch: August 25, 2016

Also, the Korean Branch started in 2012 but the oficial begans was in 2013 and the Italian Branch was founded in 2011.

I'm all for including our international branches in more of the front page news, especially since we don't have that many entries in a given month anyway. What do we think of this? Do we announce every anniversary, or just certain numbers?
