The motion has passed, and Cimmerian will be censured until February 8th, 2018. During this time his moderation powers will not be altered, but he is stripped of all team positions and captain positions during the period of the censure.

After a lengthy discussion elsewhere I vote Yes.

Tentative yes here, since I'd been busy with other site staff things during the time this was discussed.

That said, I find that I agree with Quik and ARD here.

Along with what others have said: my thoughts, upon initially seeing the thread, are partially shared with the points Quik brought up. Preemptively posting the thread really threw discussion for said points under the bus.

If anything, this being an offsite sexual harassment case should have compounded the need for discretion and measured discussion. Cimmerian basically prevented that from happening, and I have seen evidence which attests to this being a pattern of behavior that needs to be ended.

This is "conduct unbecoming of a moderator", compounded by the sensitive nature of the topic (rule of thumb: anything involving "harassment" or "assault" is automatically sensitive; add "sexual" to further magnify the need for delicate treatment).

This was a serious fuck up.

HOWEVER

With my family crises recently (for those who do not know, my father has been in the hospital since October along with a great number of other complications) I, as Cimmerian's team captain, am simply competely unable to assume his duties for the interim, and there is no one I am comfortable appointing to fill them. The other staff may take or leave this as they wish, but I simply cannot vote in good conscience to completely cripple my team for a month.

Though I will clarify that I didn't simply make a judgement here (at least with regards to the anti-harassment policy). The anti-harassment policy does not currently cover this type of behavior. The administration can and should interpret the policy as broadly as necessary for specific incidents but that policy will at some point need to be amended to cover offsite behavior by members of the wiki that don't involve other members of the wiki.

This code of conduct applies to all SCP Foundation community spaces, including the SCP Foundation wiki, #site19, #site17, and private messages to other community members.

This code of conduct also applies indirectly to behavior in side chats associated with the SCP Foundation community; harassing behavior in unofficial or side chats may result in consequences in official community spaces.

I can't speak personally to "obstinately difficult to effectively communicate with" so I'll leave that to the rest of staff to judge.

This incident is part of a pattern of behaviors which detract from the otherwise excellent work Cimmerian puts into the wiki. At his best, Cimmerian is leading important and necessary projects and seeing them through to completion, and making sure the rules are being stuck to. However, Cimmerian brushes aside protocol and can be obstinately difficult to effectively communicate with.

If this motion passes it will censure Cimmerian, removing from his official staff posts for a time period of one month. The respective co-captains of his team will assume the sole captaincy; an interim co-captain may be appointed at their discretion.

This does not constitute a demotion from Moderator, and Cimmerian will remain a Moderative staff member without a portfolio of responsibilities. He will still be permitted to participate in discussions relevant to his work, with permission from any relevant member(s) of Administration.

This vote restricted to moderators and administrators. You may provide comments in addition to your post if you wish to explain, but please do not vote with extensive, unnecessary caveats. This thread will remain open for a period of one week. If implemented, the censure would take effect immediately.
