So, effective now, I’m resigning from staff. This is something I’ve been considering for months now, but I was reading the charter rewrite thread and realised I just don’t have the enthusiasm anymore. I’ve been staff since I was a teenager and both I and the site have changed a lot in that time, and I think I’ve reached the end here. This isn’t down to any specific thing, it’s just time. It’s been a great run though, so thank you all for your hard work and keep it up. Naepic’s now licensing captain, and he can move that on if he doesn’t want it – but he’s doing an amazing job as VC and I know he can steer the team better than I ever could. Maybe I’ll come back and write again sometime, but for now I’m fair scunnered with it so probably not for a while.

See you around, maybe, and keep up all the good work.

(Also, please don’t respond here, I don’t want to clutter 05).

Going to be on holiday for a fortnight - I'll still be vaguely around and will be able to help deal with any AHT or emergency buisness, but otherwise I'll be gone.

I'll be in the middle of an African rainforest for the next week and a half, so I'll be doing no staff or chat work for obvious reasons.

On holiday again for a fortnight. Will be on chat sporadically and I'll be on facebook if people urgently need me but aside from that won't be doing much.

Was wondering why y'all never mentioned "freshie", googled the term, found urbandictionary.

Someone who has just entered a english speaking country, and has poor english skills and has a very odd and mocked accent. Normally a person who has moved from a eastern country to a western country;

Most of them wear trampy clothes (most asian freshies wear sandals the whole year round), and education is all they talk about.

As an Asian year-round sandal-wearing freshman, I feel… targeted.

We got around the gendered problems of "freshman" at my alma mater by calling them "froshlings."

So, I just moved into university today! I'll probably be quite busy getting drunk socialising over the coming week, and after that term starts for real. I don't expect any serious drops in activity, but I'll have a lot more on my hands and I'll be probably away for the rest of the week at least.

From tomorrow, I'll be going on holiday with family, for two weeks. I don't know if/when I'll get wifi, but I'll be extremelt busy the whole time, so if I am on it'll only be popping into irc and maybe checking recent posts. Rest assured, I'll be back in full capacity soon enough, hopefully with a tan.

So from Thursday (25^th May) through Monday (29^th May) I'll be on holiday with family and probably won't be on as much. I'll hopefully be able to pop into chat but I might not have the time to run at full capacity, we'll see. Won't be long, anyway.
