No central control structure has been identified. **Infection Effects** Exposure to SCP-XXXX results in a progressive process within the host organism: **Phase 1** SCP-XXXX will attach itself to the skin of its host with such strength that it will penetrate the skin, reaching blood vessels, entering its circulatory system. SCP-XXXX's particles attach to red blood cells, breaking the hemoglobin inside to later replace the cell. The replaced cell (SCP-XXXX-1) will carry on with the normal function of the previous cell. Arriving at the central nervous system, particles will start to self-replicate by assimilating some neural paths, replacing them with new neural paths. Following this event, hosts of SCP-XXXX will experience subtle variations in their behaviour, most notably a growing curiosity for the planet of Mars. **Phase 2** By now, the whole circulatory system has been replaced by particles of SCP-XXXX, letting it consume non-essential biological matter, replicating itself. The holes left from the skin attachment are enabled of healing and work as an escape place for particles to be released to the environment, travelling by air. Hosts will also become attracted to high heights. **Phase 3** The host will abandon all essential needs, such as sleeping and eating, and will now make getting closer to Mars his top priority. Hosts are unable to sense risk and will put their lives in danger climbing high places with the intent of coming closer to Mars, as if it were calling them. Their bodies are starting to decompose from the inside out, and large amounts of SCP-XXXX are expelled from violently coughing.
