Received the following reply:

Thank you for the information. The links you provided were very helpful. On that topic: some of the notes on my case, namely ‘overly purple prose’ and ‘extraneous subheadings’, seem oddly subjective. I would of course argue, with bias, that the writing is not ‘overly purple’ and so on but that’s just an unproductive argument for me to make because it’s subjective.

Having seen the resources you’ve provided I do understand the decisions made by the moderation team.

With that said I’m not sure where that leaves us in this situation. As previously stated I was never arguing for the page to remain up, although does this mean that the idea behind this scp entry is dead in the water because of this case?

Sent back:

+ show block

– hide block

some of the notes on my case, namely ‘overly purple prose’ and ‘extraneous subheadings’, seem oddly subjective. Extraneous subheadings in particular are rather straightforward to identify, when looking at AI-generated pages compared with human-written SCP articles. Purple prose is identified based on word choice, sentence structure, sentence length, and other elements such as narrative contribution with regards to the structure of the page as a whole.

I was never arguing for the page to remain up, although does this mean that the idea behind this scp entry is dead in the water because of this case?

The concept can still be used, so long as the eventual draft for the new material is entirely human-written.

Received the following reply:

+ show block

– hide block

Regarding the discrepancies of UK/US spelling I’m going to need more clarification on what you mean. If you mean that my newest submission contains a mix of UK/US spellings or that my previous post only contains one or both, contrary to my recent post, I can only explain it thusly: I wrote my recent submission on my phone and used two different applications throughout writing. One being my notes app where the language is set to English (UK) and another where it is set to English (US) by default. I usually try to write in British English where possible (though I make mistakes even when writing by hand) and spell-check will mark words using English spelling which I manually correct. This ‘discrepancy’ is a result of me missing areas I was meant to correct or the mistake not being picked up by one or the other applications used (due to having different spell-check languages). I would also like to add that comparing the writing style of my old post which is from at least 5 years ago to my new one — if that is what you meant — makes little sense to me as it implies I must not have changed my style or how I write in all that time. (I was in high school when I wrote my first post)

I also require clarification on the ‘bolded sections have more similarity to AI-submitted material’. The bold sections of my submission were the headings for each section. As far as I was aware, headings such as ‘Addendum XXX - A’ and the use of bold for these is the norm on the website.

The use of an em dash is simply grammatically correct and I felt it fit the tone of what is supposed to be a kind of scientific literature. I’ve seen mention of this online, that the em dash is indication of AI usage, and I think it’s unfair to decide that any work that contains a particular piece of punctuation must therefore be AI generated.

I’m aware my writing is somewhat ‘robotic’ and I partly choose to write this way for clarity (and also just can’t help it) and it’s my opinion that this style is suited for the website. I do not believe my writing style is similar to AI in this sense as AI is intended to sound more human-like. It’s also shown that current LLM’s produce content that is more ‘human-like’ than actual humans (https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2503.23674) and therefore I would argue my writing being the way it is is evidence against using AI-generative tools.

As mentioned in my previous message, I understand that what I did use AI for is also against the rules and I’m fine with this fact and appreciate you pointing me in the direction of where this information was listed. Missing this rule was simply my mistake. I also misunderstood when you mentioned being able to reapply for a membership after 24 hours had elapsed and I thank you for explaining this to me as well.

My goal isn’t to have the post I made re-added to the site as it violated the rules regardless of the points made above, I just hoped to clear some things up.

Thank you so much for your time.

Sent back:

+ show block

– hide block

Regarding the discrepancies of UK/US spelling I’m going to need more clarification on what you mean.

I also require clarification on the ‘bolded sections have more similarity to AI-submitted material’.

I’ve seen mention of this online, that the em dash is indication of AI usage, and I think it’s unfair to decide that any work that contains a particular piece of punctuation must therefore be AI generated.

I do not believe my writing style is similar to AI in this sense as AI is intended to sound more human-like.

The staff record for your case is here: https://05command.wikidot.com/forum/t-17090683/ai-record-xenphon

The full forum of SCP-wiki AI cases staff has logged is here: https://05command.wikidot.com/forum/c-7852401/ai-records and you can compare the material you submitted with other cases.

Should you find existing mainsite works that resemble your material more than the prior instances of submitted AI-generated content with regards to the combination of text bolding, em-dash usage, and specific section headings, please notify staff so we can update our process for identifying AI.

Received the following reply:

If the following bares any relevance I would like to discuss the situation. The only use of AI in my entry was the addition of the markdown syntax just due to the fact I’m not entirely familiar with it - I understand this is seemingly against the rules as you stated ‘AI assisted’ and this would technically fall under that scope. I would like to add that as a new author I read the guides intended for new authors and saw no mention of AI at all and would have just done my homework so to speak to use markdown myself if I had known.
I only request that this be noted as a ‘strike’ of sorts on my account and not be a final unforgivable mistake.

Responded:

+ show block

– hide block

The only use of AI in my entry was the addition of the markdown syntax just due to the fact I’m not entirely familiar with it - I understand this is seemingly against the rules as you stated ‘AI assisted’ and this would technically fall under that scope.

Can you explain the discrepancy between UK and US spellings in your previous writings and the text recently submitted to the mainsite, why the bolded sections have more similarity with AI-submitted material than human-generated work, and the use of — dashes rather than parentheses or hyphens?
Noting that Xenphon (account age 2380 days, site membership 2375 days) recently coldposted the following page, which has multiple obvious indicators of AI-generation: https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-7428

+ show block

– hide block

**Item #:** SCP-7428 **Object Class:** Euclid **Special Containment Procedures:** SCP-7428 is to be stored in Thermal Isolation Chamber-7 at Site-77. Access is restricted to personnel with Level 3 clearance and above. When testing, all observational equipment must be disabled unless specifically required. Direct line-of-sight and any reflective or electronic observation is prohibited during passive storage. The chamber temperature is to be monitored remotely using non-visual thermometric sensors. SCP-7428 may only be observed under strict protocols. No fewer than three (3) thermal dampeners must be installed in the chamber perimeter to prevent hazardous energy buildup during indirect observation. **Description:** SCP-7428 is a visually unremarkable cast-iron cooking pot containing exactly 1.2L of distilled water. The pot and water are physically unremarkable when unobserved. When any form of observation occurs—including direct human sight, camera surveillance, or reflective sightlines—the water within SCP-7428 becomes thermodynamically inert beyond 15°C. While under observation, SCP-7428 becomes incapable of reaching a boiling point regardless of the amount of energy input. The phenomenon extends into an approximate 1m³ sphere centered on SCP-7428, within which thermal energy above 15°C is instantly absorbed and nullified by unknown means. Infrared scanning shows no heat signature deviation from baseline ambient temperature during observation. Thermal absorption appears to be unlimited. In Test 7428-11, a 0.5kt nuclear device was detonated at a range of 0.8m while SCP-7428 was under visual observation. SCP-7428 remained undamaged, and no thermal radiation propagated beyond the 1m³ range. All pressure and electromagnetic effects remained unaffected. No radiation shielding properties were observed; only thermal energy was nullified. The anomalous effect ceases when all observation is removed. Upon cessation, residual thermal energy is not released but appears to be entirely negated. Long-term storage has revealed no increase in entropy or secondary radiation. The pot has never been observed to boil. The anomaly manifests only when the pot contains its original volume of water (1.2L), in the original vessel. **Addendum 7428-A — Observation Methods:** Test logs confirm that SCP-7428 responds identically to various forms of observation, including: - Human visual observation - Analog and digital camera surveillance - Indirect optical observation (mirrors, periscopes) - Laser-based scanning systems Notably, tactile observation alone does not activate the anomaly. Thermal increase beyond 15°C resumes immediately upon complete loss of observation. Autonomic systems such as motion sensors or thermal sensors without visual input do not trigger SCP-7428’s effect. **Addendum 7428-B — Energy Threshold and Limitation:** Experiment 7428-09 involved the continuous application of 100kW thermal output via industrial heating coils. Unobserved, SCP-7428 boiled within 3 minutes. Under observation, temperature plateaued at 15.0°C ± 0.1°C. No energy accumulation or dissipation was recorded in surrounding materials. **Addendum 7428-C — Potential Applications (Classified Level 4):** Dr. Raines has proposed potential applications in thermal suppression for use in hazardous environments. However, risk of uncontrolled energy dampening and failure to disengage anomalous effects remains too high for field deployment. Further experimentation involving observation-state modulation via timed shutters is pending approval. **Addendum 7428-D — Component Dependency Testing:** Testing has determined that SCP-7428’s anomalous properties are contingent on the exact combination of both the pot and its original volume of water. Separation or substitution of either component results in complete loss of anomalous behavior. **Test Log 7428-D-01:** **Procedure:** Water removed from SCP-7428 and placed in identical cast-iron pot. **Result:** No anomalous thermal suppression observed. Water boiled under normal thermal input. **Conclusion:** Pot alone does not manifest anomaly. **Test Log 7428-D-02:** **Procedure:** Original water boiled away while unobserved. Replacement with identical volume of distilled water. **Result:** Replacement water exhibited no anomalous effects. **Conclusion:** Original water is required. **Test Log 7428-D-03:** **Procedure:** Steam produced by boiling original water off-site was condensed and returned to SCP-7428. **Result:** Anomalous properties resumed immediately upon observation. **Conclusion:** Molecular continuity of original water is sufficient to retain anomaly if fully recovered. **Test Log 7428-D-04:** **Procedure:** Pot placed over original water in separate vessel. **Result:** No anomaly observed. **Conclusion:** Both components must be physically unified. **Summary:** SCP-7428’s anomalous effect is not a property of either the pot or water individually, but the specific and exact pairing of both. Hypotheses involving entanglement, ritual imprinting, or memetic binding are under review. Current working theory classifies SCP-7428 as a compound ontological anomaly, resistant to replication or component substitution. Further testing suspended until high-precision reconstitution protocols are developed. **Addendum 7428-E — Energy Containment Trial:** **Objective:** Evaluate feasibility of using SCP-7428 as a passive thermal sink for high-output energy systems under continuous observation. **Procedure:** A compact deuterium-tritium fusion core (1.2 GW thermal output) was placed within SCP-7428’s 1m³ suppression radius. SCP-7428 remained under constant observation via dual-redundant radiation-shielded optical systems. A timed destabilization of the fusion core was initiated to simulate progressive containment failure. **Result:** At T+45s, thermal output began rising as expected. SCP-7428’s internal temperature remained stable at 15.0°C. External instrumentation recorded complete thermal absorption within suppression radius. At T+63s, Optical Relay A failed due to particle lens erosion. Optical Relay B engaged automatically but showed signs of thermal lag. SCP-7428’s image signal dropped to 18% clarity, triggering visual-loss alarm. At T+65s, emergency observation protocol activated. A mechanical shutter on an auxiliary viewing port (non-digital, per protocol) opened to maintain direct line-of-sight. Full thermal suppression resumed within 0.2 seconds. No containment breach occurred. No damage to SCP-7428 or surrounding infrastructure observed. However, minor bubbling was recorded on the interior surface of the pot, suggesting proximity to thermal threshold before visual re-lock. **Conclusion:** Thermal containment via SCP-7428 is technically viable but critically dependent on redundant, fail-safe observation. Any disruption exceeding 0.2 seconds risks irreversible loss of suppression and potential destruction of anomalous elements. Use in high-energy systems is designated **experimental only** with O5 pre-approval. **Current Status:** Under ongoing review for Thaumaturgic Law Intersection. Reclassification to Thaumiel denied. Reclassification appeal pending.

Excerpts of note:

SCP-7428 is a visually unremarkable cast-iron cooking pot containing exactly 1.2L of distilled water.
