I really like S D Locke and what I hear of her work, and was reluctant to vote no. I also think she's done well in the past when I've been able to observe her. My vote is because of the concerns raised in the candidate discussion thread, particularly the recent incident torcs discusses here. Moral over-policing is a serious issue, because it almost always ends up impacting the most vulnerable among us in the long run, even when the desire is coming from the right place and even when it's initially aimed at worthy-seeming targets. The instinct to overstep staff powers by deleting objectionable content outside strict appropriate boundaries can be deadly for a community like this, because it's so tempting for reasonable people.

Mind, this is a basic issue of possible current unreadiness, not a lack of confidence going forward. Indeed, my vote could probably be swayed by seeing Locke address this (and maybe she has elsewhere, as I've been less active recently). Presuming the promotion goes through, as it seems like it will, I trust Locke will improve upon this issue, as so many staff members have before. I'm making sure to say something here specifically in hopes that Locke will take it into account!

As per my earlier arguments: abstaining on users I have not seen as active in discussion or their regular work, but I trust the judgement of others. As for Locke: I understand the hesitation with her past, but I try not to have behaviour of 3-4 years ago cloud the absolute possibility for growth, and I hope they'll be able to prove those doubts wrong.

• Celeste Etoile, Esperion, SynthPanda_ all do great work and I have no further notes from what others have contributed in discussions.

• S D Locke - I am voting yes on Locke because of their body of work and participation in staff discussions but it is a weak yes vote and I'm going to explain. Locke has, historically, held strong morals about Adult content on the SCP wiki, primarily of a sexual nature. It's my personal opinion that these moral judgements border on the puritanical. This is fine as a regular user, your thoughts about what are appropriate for the site are your own. As a member of staff it is inappropriate to dictate that the site cannot support adult content, one of the hallmarks of our collaborative effort is the relative lack of restrictions on what can and cannot be posted beyond the obscenely offensive and rulebreaking. The community decides what they want to see on the site, not staff, and by keeping that balance and maintaining a custodial relationship with the site we as a community have thrived for more than a decade and a half. But when Locke was previously staff she campaigned hard following May 2020 to remove all adult content from the wiki, and demanded to be made apart of AHT and given access to evidence in regards to AHT cases. While this was a heated period of time, those demands were extreme oversteps and demonstrated to me at the time that Locke did not trust the judgement of the staff team that is most responsible for protecting people from Adult abuses of that nature. At the time AHT had already implemented major policy changes to prevent another May 2020 from happening, and we would make further changes down the road. Combined with concerns raised by Lord and Torcs Locke's capacity for rash action and moral supposition makes this a very weak and hesitant yes vote. Should mod-rights be requested in the future, I will have to reevaluate, but I don't know if I can support that given things as they are.

• AriadnesThread - Ari is a fantastic staff member, a fantastic captain, and an incredible person. My reccomendations/feedback are for you to take things slow and steady, don't overcommit yourself. You're an incredible staffer and oftentimes incredible staffers will take on large loads of work, and the last thing I want is to see another Admin burn out. Also have confidence in yourself. Your instincts/judgement have been right many times.

A note on Ari:

I cannot imagine how you put up with all the nonsense that comes with being the captain of discord staff, a team that, to be blunt, I don't understand how it hasn't torn itself apart yet. You've distinguished yourself as an earnest attempt at being the voice of reason amidst a sea of miscommunication, a beacon of stability when it comes to uncharted territory, and someone who is above all else able to keep her temper in check - a surprisingly rare skill among staff.

I do not envy the positions you have been placed in. Disciplinary is persistently viewed with scrutiny, sometimes well-deserved (well, usually), and having to manage a large Discord fairly when a modest chunk of staff seem to be recurring problems, to say nothing of general users. At the risk of coming off as putting down the rest of the teams (which is not my intention here, and despite occasional misgivings, I have positive views on them as a whole), there really isn't anyone who I admire more on these teams specifically as much as you.

In the kindest terms possible, you come off as an enigma to me. Perhaps this is my own experiences clouding my words, few staff on the wiki (and certainly less who have been burdened with as much responsibility as you) come off as a pillar of steadiness as you do. I genuinely hope that taking up this position doesn't exhaust you more than the ridiculous affairs you put up with already. I'd hate to see you leave like others have.
