Received the following appeal:

Hi Aismallard, wanted to write to you about appealing my ban to the site.
I’m not experienced at writing these, but I’ll do my best to be honest and direct.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve wanted nothing more than to create something meaningful. Looking back, I think I wanted it too badly, and that led to the behavior that got me banned. I don’t want to make excuses for that, I crossed lines, and I understand why the community needed to remove me.
Since my ban, I’ve been trying to actually change, not just say I’ve changed. I’ve focused on building constructive spaces for other writers. I created two sites where people can write alternative stories (one about superheroes I love those!, another about a different dimension interacting with earth) just to give people a place to create.
But my most proud achievement, I co-founded the WCI, a collaborative space designed to bring people together productively and safely. I’m proud of what those communities have become, but more importantly, they’ve taught me how to contribute without burning things down. I’ve learned to listen, to step back, and to put the health of a community ahead of my own desire to make something now.
What I’m trying to say is, I’ve changed. I want to keep doing the good work I’ve been doing off-site, but bring it back to the SCP Wiki, where I always wanted to contribute in the first place. If you give me a second chance, I’ll respect every rule, every staff decision, and every person who shares this space. I’m not here to cause problems. I just want to build.

Thanks, Beyond.

Consensus among Disciplinary Team members was to decline.

Received the following appeal:

Yes I would like to respectfully appeal the ban placed on my account due to my use of AI assistance (Grammarly) on the recent work I posted to the Wiki. I’m writing to respectfully appeal the recent ban issued against me , which I understand is related to the alleged use of AI-generated content. I want to clarify that did not submit AI-generated content. I take the SCP community’s standards seriously and have always made a genuine effort to contribute original work. If any of my writing raised concerns or gave the impression that it was completely AI-generated, I assure you this was not intentional. I understand that the Wiki has specific rules regarding AI use, I learned my lesson from the last incident and if there are areas where I’ve unintentionally crossed a line or misinterpreted the guidelines, I would greatly appreciate the chance to correct that. I’m fully committed to working within the expectations of the site and being transparent in my creative process moving forward.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I care deeply about this community and hope to continue contributing in good faith.

Sincerely, Theunknownbeyond

I replied noting I would forward the appeal to staff. User replied:

Thank you very much.

-theunknownbeyond

Disc team, please weigh in.

Efforts to re-establish direct contact are ongoing under the oversight of RAISA[[footnote]] Records and Information Security Administration[[/footnote]] and MTF Psi-4 (“Ghost Writers”)[[footnote]]Mobile Task Force Psi-4 specializes in the tracking, analysis, and containment of anomalies that have affected Foundation networks[[/footnote]]. The office ██-██ of Site-16 is to remain sealed for analysis. No personnel are to remove or alter any objects within the office, requests to access SCP-8163’s terminal require Level 4/RAISA clearance and must be conducted via air-gapped, read-only hardware[[footnote]]Refers to a network that is physically isolated from other networks[[/footnote]]. Psychological screening is mandatory for any personnel exposed to SCP-8163-related documents for longer than 30 minutes. **Description:** SCP-8163 refers to a Foundation employee identified as Thomas ████, who is believed to have served the Foundation for a period exceeding 30 years. Despite extensive documentation of his activities—including authored reports, signed memos, incident analyses, and a fully furnished personal office—no currently active Foundation personnel report having ever met, seen, or worked with SCP-8163. SCP-8163's personnel file lists numerous credentials: Level 3 Researcher (1993–2001), Level 4 Analyst (2001–2011), and RAISA Liaison (2011–2023). His file contains over 1,700 documents, none of which were flagged as anomalous until Incident 8163-1. **Incident 8163-1:** On 04/12/2023, a Level 1 intern attempted to submit a requisition form that auto-populated with SCP-8163’s digital signature. This triggered an automated HR audit, which uncovered SCP-8163’s extensive file history. When contacted, no department head, supervisor, or subordinate could verify his existence. Security conducted a sweep of Site-16 and located Office ██-██, which was sealed but not locked. Inside, they found: * Dozens of handwritten notebooks containing detailed SCP containment proposals, none of which correspond to any known anomalies. * A Foundation-issue desktop terminal logged in under SCP-8163’s credentials. The machine contains daily work logs, personal notes, and communications with individuals who either no longer exist or never did. * A framed photograph of a Foundation awards ceremony. SCP-8163 appears in the center, smiling. All other individuals in the photo are obscured by motion blur, and none are recognizable by facial recognition software. Subsequent attempts to interview personnel mentioned in SCP-8163’s emails or memos revealed that these names do not appear in other Foundation systems. ---- **Addendum 8163-A** When D-11423 was instructed to enter SCP-8163’s office, they reportedly experienced intense déjà vu, identifying various items in the office before touching them. When asked how they knew these details, the subject stated: > "I used to work here. This was my desk. No… wait. It wasn't. Was it?" Psychometric analysis of the office reveals elevated baseline mnestic resonance, consistent with localized memory suppression phenomena. One theory posits that SCP-8163 is not missing—but systematically forgotten. ---- **Addendum 8163-B** The final log entry on SCP-8163’s terminal, dated two days before discovery, reads: > *"They’re almost done forgetting me. I can feel it now. Every morning, it gets quieter in the halls. Maybe I finished my job. Maybe I was the job."* ---- **Addendum 8163-C** Following continued exposure to SCP-8163’s documents, three Site-17 personnel began exhibiting symptoms of identity confusion. All three independently claimed to be Thomas ████ during psychological debriefings. Each demonstrated detailed knowledge of his writing style, office layout, and project history—despite no prior contact with the subject or related files. When confronted with evidence of their real identities, subjects displayed agitation, followed by acute memory loss. Two have since reverted to baseline, though one remains catatonic, repeating: > "Someone has to remember." ---- **Final Note from RAISA Oversight Committee** As of 03/28/2025, RAISA has redacted SCP-8163’s full name from all internal documentation. Office ██-██ has been resealed with lead-lined paneling and cognitohazard suppression fields. A single memo remains on the office door, printed on yellowing Foundation letterhead: > **NOTICE:** > This office is currently unassigned. > Please direct all inquiries to the department head. > Do not disturb the files. ---- **Footnote (Appended by RAISA AIC "SIGMA-9")** Records indicate no such department head currently exists. Attempts to reassign the office or delete SCP-8163’s personnel file have failed. Unauthorized deletions revert overnight. The system will not forget him. [[footnoteblock]]

When asked about AI usage, the user denied using AI: https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-17090500/scp-8163#post-6921889 (reply to reader comments, "I'm not sure why certain segments has unneeded subtitles, just gives me the wrong vibe. Edit: I hate to be that guy but did you use ai? The formatting and some wording just gives the vibe of that. Apologies if it's just a weird coincidence")

I felt that those segments needed what I put there, I wanted that bureaucratic element to the document. But thank you for the comment it can help me make changes. No I did not use ai on this article.

I also posted a comment asking the author to explain some discrepancies, such as the core anomaly being the identity/person that was present in records but not in people's memories (rather than the actual physical office and documents the effects originated from) and the seeming confusion between Safe and Euclid classification despite level of complexity in the containment procedures. As far as I can tell, there was no reply posted, as the page was deleted.

nico, afto, and Kufat supported permanent ban. Ban enacted, PM sent.

The containment chamber should be equipped with extra padding on the walls and floor to minimize potential injury to Site-19 staff. SCP-346-J's containment chamber should have a daily cleaning schedule to remove any obstacles or debris that may exacerbate its tripping hazard ability. Site-19 staff members are to exercise extreme caution when entering SCP-346-J's containment chamber. It is advised to use alternative paths whenever possible to avoid accidental collisions with SCP-346-J. Personnel are required to report any incidents or near-misses to their immediate supervisor for documentation and review. Dr. Pearl has been designated as the primary researcher for SCP-346-J. She is responsible for conducting experiments, monitoring the object's behavior, and proposing any adjustments to the containment protocols, if necessary. **Description:** SCP-346-J is a medium-sized dog of mixed breed, resembling a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Labrador Retriever. It possesses a friendly and docile temperament, making it approachable by personnel. However, the primary anomaly of SCP-346-J manifests when any individual attempts to walk or move within its vicinity. The anomalous property of SCP-346-J is its innate ability to consistently be in the way of any person moving around within its vicinity, regardless of the individual's intentions or efforts to avoid it. SCP-346-J will position itself directly in front of the person, making it extremely difficult for them to navigate the area without tripping over the dog. Remarkably, SCP-346-J appears to be impervious to harm from these accidents, no matter how severe. Despite being a tripping hazard, SCP-346-J has never shown any sign of injury or distress resulting from being stepped on, bumped into, or tripped over. The anomalous effect seems to be confined to SCP-346-J's presence and does not extend beyond its immediate vicinity. When removed from an area, the space it occupied returns to its normal state, and individuals can move freely without any obstruction. SCP-346-J was initially discovered in a small town near Site-19 after numerous reports of people tripping and stumbling over an "invisible obstacle" in their path. The Foundation was alerted to the situation when local law enforcement officers were unable to find any conventional explanation for the incidents. [[table style="border-collapse:collapse; max-width: 600px;"]] [[row]] [[cell style="font-weight:bold;padding: .3em .7em; text-align: center; border: 1px solid black; background-color: silver; width: 20%;"]] Experiment 346-J-1 [[/cell]] [[cell style="font-weight:bold; padding: .3em .7em; text-align: center; border: 1px solid black; background-color: silver;"]] [[/cell]] [[/row]] [[row]] [[cell style="text-align: center; padding: .3em .7em; border: 1px solid black"]] Procedure [[/cell]] [[cell style="border: 1px solid black; padding: .3em .7em;"]] D-346-J-1 is instructed to walk from one end of SCP-346-J's containment chamber to the other. D-346-J-1 fell but did not sustain any injuries. [[/cell]] [[/row]] [[/table]] Analysis: The anomalous nature of SCP-346-J is consistent in its ability to be in the way and cause tripping hazards. [[table style="border-collapse:collapse; max-width: 600px;"]] [[row]] [[cell style="font-weight:bold;padding: .3em .7em; text-align: center; border: 1px solid black; background-color: silver; width: 20%;"]] Experiment 346-J-2 [[/cell]] [[cell style="font-weight:bold; padding: .3em .7em; text-align: center; border: 1px solid black; background-color: silver;"]] [[/cell]] [[/row]] [[row]] [[cell style="text-align: center; padding: .3em .7em; border: 1px solid black"]] Procedure [[/cell]] [[cell style="border: 1px solid black; padding: .3em .7em;"]] A remote-controlled drone is used to move SCP-346-J to the corner of its containment chamber. [[/cell]] [[/row]] [[row]] [[cell style="text-align: center; border: 1px solid black"]] Results [[/cell]] [[cell style="border: 1px solid black; padding: .3em .7em;"]] Once moved to the corner, SCP-346-J remains stationary. No anomalous effects are observed as the drone moves around the containment chamber. [[/cell]] [[/row]] [[/table]] Analysis: The anomaly is directly related to SCP-346-J's physical presence, rather than any environmental or psychological factors. It is important to note that despite the frustrations caused by SCP-346-J's ability to be consistently in the way, personnel should treat it with care and respect. It is not to be used for any practical jokes or pranks, as such actions could potentially lead to injuries and compromised security protocols. SCP-346-J should be considered an anomaly requiring containment and study rather than a mere inconvenience.

Description: SCP-346-J is a medium-sized dog of mixed breed, resembling a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Labrador Retriever.

Experiment 346-J-1

Procedure

D-346-J-1 is instructed to walk from one end of SCP-346-J's containment chamber to the other.

Results

As expected, SCP-346-J positions itself directly in front of D-346-J-1, causing the subject to trip over the dog. D-346-J-1 fell but did not sustain any injuries.

Analysis: The anomalous nature of SCP-346-J is consistent in its ability to be in the way and cause tripping hazards.

Experiment 346-J-2

Procedure

A remote-controlled drone is used to move SCP-346-J to the corner of its containment chamber.

Results

Once moved to the corner, SCP-346-J remains stationary. No anomalous effects are observed as the drone moves around the containment chamber.

Analysis: The anomaly is directly related to SCP-346-J's physical presence, rather than any environmental or psychological factors.

[[include :scp-wiki:component:license-box]]
|author=theunknownbeyond]]
[[include :scp-wiki:component:license-box-end]]

—-

comments of note

hide

https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-16177309/scp-346-j#post-6155377 reply to comment "I hate that this made me laugh"

I'm glad to hear that and if you thought this one was good then your gonna love my next one. Personnel are advised to use SCP-4040-J responsibly and to avoid overindulging in its effects.

Description: SCP-4040-J is a seemingly ordinary rubber chicken, approximately 45 cm in length. The object exhibits no anomalous properties when observed or handled. However, when SCP-4040-J is squeezed, it emits a high-pitched "squeak" that causes all individuals within a 10-meter radius to experience an uncontrollable urge to laugh.

The intensity of the laughter varies from person to person, but it has been observed that the more serious or stressed an individual is, the more intense their laughter becomes. The laughter typically lasts for 1-2 minutes, after which the affected individuals return to their normal emotional state.

Addendum 4040-J-1: Dr. Pearl is strictly forbidden from using SCP-4040-J during important meetings, disciplinary hearings, or any other situation where maintaining a serious atmosphere is crucial. Dr. Pearl has been reprimanded for her past misuse of SCP-4040-J and is reminded that the Foundation is a professional organization, not a comedy club.

Addendum 4040-J-2: Following several incidents involving SCP-4040-J and the inappropriate disruption of Foundation activities, additional containment procedures have been implemented.

Revised Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4040-J is now to be kept in a soundproof containment locker at Site-19. Access to SCP-4040-J is permitted for recreational purposes, but only with the approval of at least one (1) Level 4 personnel. Personnel are advised to use SCP-4040-J responsibly and to avoid overindulging in its effects.

Incident Log 4040-J-A: On ██/██/████, Dr. Pearl used SCP-4040-J during a high-level security briefing, causing uncontrollable laughter among the attendees. The briefing was delayed by 30 minutes, and Dr. Pearl received a formal reprimand for her actions.

Incident Log 4040-J-B: On ██/██/████, SCP-4040-J was smuggled into the Site-19 cafeteria during lunch hour. The resulting laughter caused several minor injuries and the spillage of multiple food trays. An investigation into the individual responsible for this incident is ongoing.

Incident Log 4040-J-C: On ██/██/████, Dr. Pearl , in an attempt to "lighten the mood," used SCP-4040-J during a containment breach drill. The laughter caused by SCP-4040-J led to confusion and a delay in response time. Dr. Pearl was temporarily suspended from duty and required to attend a disciplinary hearing.

In light of these incidents, all personnel are reminded that SCP-4040-J is not to be used in any situation where it may compromise the safety or professionalism of the Foundation. Misuse of SCP-4040-J will result in disciplinary action.

Addendum 4040-J-3: Following a thorough review of SCP-4040-J's containment procedures and incident logs, the Ethics Committee has issued the following recommendations to prevent further misuse of SCP-4040-J:

All personnel must undergo a mandatory training session on the responsible use of SCP-4040-J and the potential consequences of its misuse.

A logbook must be maintained to record all instances of SCP-4040-J usage, including the date, time, location, and names of all individuals present during the activation of SCP-4040-J.

Any personnel found to be misusing SCP-4040-J or encouraging its misuse will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including demotion or termination of employment.

Dr. Pearl is to be closely monitored by security personnel when in proximity to SCP-4040-J and is required to obtain written approval from Site Director ██████ before accessing SCP-4040-J for any reason.

The Ethics Committee hopes that these recommendations will help to maintain a professional atmosphere at the Foundation while still allowing for the occasional moment of levity provided by SCP-4040-J.

—-

comments of note

hide

https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-15931803/scp-4040-j#post-6102275 reply to comment "I laughed, so I think it serves its purpose as a -J However, I will say I could have laughed a bit harder.
