For several of these figures I'm following the discussion threads's commentary for guidance - mostly for the Discord staff's candidates, since I'm very unfamiliar with the work there. That being said, for a vast majority of these candidates I am quite keen on working with.

My biggest concern is that they don't burn out, or over-extend themselves. Especially becoming OS, there are many opportunities to become more active with staff work, and I don't want people to feel pressure and stress themselves out. But if people can pace themselves while maintaining their contributions to our project, I welcome them as OS.

Shocked a few of these aren't already OS or Mod, but hey let's get to fixing that.

Regarding the admin candidates, Pedagon and Torcs are fabulous additions to any team, and so long as they can keep themselves paced healthily I'm thrilled to have them added to the Admin team.

EmotionalEntropy: I recognize your conscientiousness in moderation and positive contributions to most any discussion that arises. In reference to your duties, I've seen others share a concern for overwork/burnout on your part. I haven't seen much that points to this — but I'm willing to defer to the opinions of your co-staffers. My concern is thus: I've seen you act with too much fervor during some interactions both inside and outside 19cord's Mod Chat. Although I appreciate enthusiasm from any staffer, I've noticed a few key situations in which you responded with an intensity in excess of what the moment called for. I will, however, admit to having something of a spectator's take on this, given I am not a Discord Team member. To reiterate: It's clear you're a diligent worker, but consider a more surgical approach.

Fishish: I don't recall how active you were in the past, but at present, I think your contributions to day-to-day moderation duties lag behind those of your co-staffers. When I have seen you respond to discussions among the broader moderation team, it's usually been at the tail-end of things. Hence, because of your tendency not to be present at the heart of discussions in 19cord, the value of your contributions becomes seriously blunted. This may also be indicative of a lack of perception towards broader moderation needs. You don't always need to be present — you're one person, after all — but consider how effective you could be vs. how effective you are now.

Frystavirki: I'd hate to give you yet another "I haven't seen you around much; sorry!" response, but I'll be real with you: I just haven't seen enough of your abilities to have the confidence to give a binary vote. The breadth of my recommendation, then, is narrow: Don't hesitate to make your voice heard and have more substantial impacts on 19cord and staff-at-large, even at the expense of ruffling feathers.

Kufat: During a drama long-since-past, I said something pretty thoughtless about you with regard to your management of the IRC network. I take it back; you are extremely technically proficient, professional, and level-headed. I look forward to your continued contributions!

Vote reasoning:

I don't like abstaining on OS candidates. Given that votes are already based off of confidence, I think abstaining does little to inform the candidate what they could improve on other than stating "I didn't know/interact with this person," and as of now I have not been inactive enough to warrant this behavior.

Likewise, it takes a lot for me to vote no on a candidate. A lot of this rests heavily on the fact that the captain deemed the user fit for promotions in the first place, but the fact of the matter is: I don't know a lot of these people personally. I do, however, trust the opinions of the captains, and therefore consider that as my vote of confidence.

I consider Pedagon to be a gadfly and a necessary presence within staff to keep us in touch with our service to the community. Also, like, I've lost a friendship defending Pedagon's work and presence, a stance which I maintain was correct, so it would be weird for me to even consider voting no.

Torcs is also a gadfly, but rather than representing the looming reminder of our obligations to the community, they are the force that reminds us of our obligations to staff itself. They also do good work or something.

For the users I voted yes on: I trust your captains and some of you have been especially visible to me in the spaces I regularly watch. I'm confident you'll make great staff members. For some more specific feedback on Yes' Nos and Abstain's I'll elaborate below:

• Emotional Entropy: Your energy and attention to detail about policy and asking for staff to be held accountable along with your dedication to staffwork has been impressive, especially on Discord Team. Keep it up, but I would strongly advise you find a happy medium or balance with staffwork so that it does not overwhelm you, as I have seen happen a few times.
• Fairy Doctor: Good junior moderator who's in touch with the pulse of 19cord, and generally has good ideas for social media. Sometimes you take things very personally when they are clearly not meant to be, I'd advise working on not letting your staffwork get to you as much. I'd hate to see you burn out.
• Fishish: I'm voting yes on you because of your attentive presence in 19cord and the work and time you put in as a moderator. That said, chill with the vehemency, expectations on you are going to be higher now that you're going to be OS.
• Kufat: Fantastic staffer, incredibly knowledgable when it comes to technical proficiency and IRC, extremely skilled, and also policy cognizant/minded. You're going to make a great OS.
• AriadnesThread: Incredible staffer, very good head for policy and potential policy-work. Have a bit more confidence in yourself and your work, you're going to go far.
• Pedagon: Fantastic staffer, incredible mind for policy. One of my biggest pieces of feedback for you is be careful not to get caught up in the rush of people around you when it comes to opinions. I haven't seen this from you lately and you've done a fantastic job of shaping up on that front, but it was one of my biggest hesitancies that blocked me from supporting you for Admin for awhile.
• torcsandantlers: Powerhouse successor to MAST Captainship you've been a phenominal help in everything from organizing staff projects to codifying and improving on key bits of policy I wrote myself. You'll make a great admin. My one piece of advice is to always be listening to feedback on policy, even if it sounds silly and could be easily dismissed. It will go a long way to smoothing roads for others to support something and find compromise even if they don't agree with the initial proposition.

Abstains:

• Asters Quill: I'm just not very familiar with your work on staff, though I am cognizant of your efforts around the Bright issue. That alone isn't enough for me to vote yes or no. So I abstained.
• AvocadoMilk: Your input in moderation decisions is ok, and I trust your captain, but the other votes within the thread concern me on the maturity issues. That's why I abstained, wasn't enough to push me to a no.
• The_Spider_Queen: I'm cognizant of your work in licencing, but I'm concerned enough about your maturity that I teetered between Abstain and a No, and settled on an abstain.

No's:

basirskipreader: This was a bit hard to vote no on because I quite like Basir but their line-toeing tendencies in 19cord and occasionally inflammatory approach to issues, whether being baited or otherwise, were not enough to outweigh their work for me. It seems they'll pass in spite of my vote, so instead I'll advise that going forward you're going to have much higher expectations of behavior now that you are about to be operational staff. Be more cognizant of that in the future.

I have abstained where I'm too unfamiliar with the candidate. I have been absent from staffwork in general recently, and I hope to fix that within the next few weeks.

Also, for any candidate who doesn't get promoted: Don't take it personally or get demoralized. The feedback you get from people who voted no or abstained is valuable, and it will help you improve in areas where you have been struggling. It took me three promo cycles to become Opstaff, and I owe my growth in that time to staff members who were willing to be critical of me during promos.

The discussion posts are an excellent idea, very thankful they are there, because previous promotions it's often too late to list out concerns.
