I'm familiar with most of these candidates (even from merely lurking) and can say I have confidence in all of them as OS. Not to mention, I'm pleased to see Jr Staff getting promoted faster.

My "abstain" vote with Torcs is an abstention from judgment.

I've been taking some temporary distance from policy staffwork, so I can deal with personal life situations which affected my work quite a bit, plus improve the health of my interactions with the wiki (I did some inappropriate flipping out myself, to my regret).

So, I've not had real opportunity to observe Torcs outside a couple extremely stressful staff arguments. I wouldn't want to be judged only on those situations, were the situation reversed, and neither shall I judge.

As for Cassandra — I've been able to observe her quite a bit more, and in many immensely stressful situations. It's not nothing to be able to handle such consistent stressful situations well, and even to reliably handle your own screwups well, both of which I've been able to observe from her, and all the more impressive to me with her high activity level and its accompanying stress level. Based on this, I'm confident enough to make an affirmative positive judgment.

Alexander: much like others have voiced, I retain concerns about alexander's judgement and ability to assess situations before commenting on them. It's definitely better than it was, but it's difficult to tell how much of that is improvement and how much of that is just that less situations like that have arisen; I'm inclined towards the latter. I don't think any of this is a character failing or something, but it is an issue that makes me wish his input on stuff was slightly more baked-and-informed than it ends up being.

Torcs: I've seen torcs flip out on at least a few occasions that make me really reticent about slapping a Yes on this. That said, none of those have been particularly recent and all were in the course of pretty heated staff discussions, so you know, circumstances considered. Still, a mod vote is a vote of confidence — torcs contributions are mostly policy-oriented, which is fine, but not something that requires mod rank enough to quite sell me past the previously-mentioned concerns.

I have seen very few of these people in staff discussions and most of their work happens in places that I don't regularly see. That said, a majority of them have had quality interactions from the few that I have seen in staffchat and elsewhere and seem to have their hearts in a good place and aim to make the site a better place for everyone, even if their opinions go against the grain. That said, Torc and Alexander, in my experience, have both demonstrated quite short fuses in situations where I don't feel it was really warranted and I have seen more negative interactions than productive ones. Still, Torc seems to do great staffwork and the mod position is mostly just a formality so I will happily vote yes. Alexander will need to demonstrate more that they are able to participate productively in discussions and be willing to express opinions that aren't just the most popular one at the moment for me to happily promote them but they seem to do MAST work well enough that I won't vote against them.

For OS Candidates, I've seen all of these people put in good work so they should all definitely advance.

psychicprogrammer especially I've seen do really excellent CO work.

In regards to moderator candidates, I think torcs and myself have done alright, and are relatively trustworthy. And really, I kind of view the moderator role and it's permissions more as a tool than anything else. I only want it so that I can take on a more active role in deletions, open up metadata for people if needed, anything else requiring mod perms, and torcs has expressed similar feelings on the matter, from what I've seen.

So I'm not even going to abstain on myself because I think the whole concept of moderator being a rank rather than a tool is something that we as staff should fix.

Edit: correction, apparantly I cannot vote for myself, so consider the shrug an abstain, but my sentiment stands.

Alexander, I do want to commend your improvement specifically since the last promo cycle. Keep those areas of improvement in mind as you continue forward, but right now I do feel ok with promoting you. My personal note for you though is that you seem very inclined to agree towards the majority opinion on things. Obviously I'm not you, but be more willing to disagree if your opinion falls outside that majority.

The rest of you aside from a select few, I do want to see you all in staff discussions more like your captains mention. Staffchat right now is largely composed of the usual suspects when discussions happen, having new voices and opinions will help fix that.

All of the candidates I voted yes on are excellent choices for promotion. I'd like to draw particular note to Torcs and Nebulous who have, essentially, been thrown into the fire in recent weeks and shown remarkable capability in terms of organization.

I have concerns about Ralliston, given past interactions and behavior in a staff context. I cannot confidently vote yes or no in either direction, because I have seen their licensing work, and it is truly effective, but their proclivity to engage aggressively in arguments and assumptions of bad faith make me uncomfortable giving them a thumbs up.

Why:	Alex has been a very consistent member of MAST with lots of good work to show. They're a consistent contributor to O5 Updating and a proactive presence in Sandbox Cleaning, summarized more than 100 tales for Collections, and is always ready to pitch in where needed. They're consistently involved in discussion with staff in general about ongoing site events and site policy. In the past, they've overstepped their role in the spirit of getting things done and helping out, but that behavior has been tempered in the past three or so months.
Optional areas of improvement:	Don't spread yourself too thin and keep on the path that you're currently on. You've been good about it lately, but make sure you stay aware of what should get input from others.

Captain/Team:	MAST (Siddartha Alonne and torcsandantlers)
Why:	Crow-Cat has been a tagging powerhouse for months - over 200 pages tagged in the last 3 months. We believe this type of good, consistent work deserves recognition and promotion.
Optional areas of improvement:	Staying in your bubble is fine, but try to get involved in general staff discussion.

Why:	Ethagon has been a consistent contributor to both Sandbox Cleaning and Tagging with regular sweeps of the sandbox, 50 pages tagged, and numerous pages re-tagged and corrected. We believe this type of good, consistent work deserves recognition and promotion.
Optional areas of improvement:	We've seen you stepping out into staff discussion more lately, try to keep that up.

Why:	To put it lightly, Neb has been working tirelessly to make sure everything under their control is working just perfectly. They're one of the most active JS of this promotions cycle, have consistent activity in every team they're in, and has always shown to be open to suggestions. They've even guided the temporary MAST licenseboxing team as Section Head. We believe they're absolutely ready to be an OS.
Optional areas of improvement:	Don't take on too much. Your passion is admirable, and we don't want to lose that through burnout. While we appreciate you're very polite and open to others, we feel you should learn to put your foot down more.

Captain/Team:	Licensing (Elenee FishTruck)
Why:	Neb has done a lot of good work, they're a great communicator and attentive to the licensing email. Nebulous is keen to learn about our processes and what we need to do to make them better.
Optional areas of improvement:	The areas for improvement for Nebulous are more related to more over-arching Licensing issues - their individual areas of improvement will come out as we work through that, and I am confident we can plan and address them.

Junior Staff Member:	psychicprogrammer
Captain/Team:	MAST (Siddartha Alonne and torcsandantlers)
Why:	While Psy hasn't been on staff for long, we feel they're already a suitable candidate due to their incredible amount of work in such a short time. They've been a huge hand in tagging - considering they joined just before 7kon exactly for helping in tagging entries. MAST work aside, their work on policy and the handling of the age unraising discussion, and their contributions to the creation of staff induction page confirm to us they're ready to become OS.
Optional areas of improvement:	None at this time - be sure to have good pacing, avoid burnout and be a good example to other JS.

Captain/Team:	CO (WhiteGuard)
Why:	Psychicprogrammer has done exceptional work while on CO's Data Analysis team. They have been instrumental in gathering data and producing collection methods. They have been in this community for some time now and have proven to me that they are a consistent and proven staff member and as such have gained my vote of confidence.
Optional areas of improvement:	I see potential in them and would like to see them step up into a leadership role for their group and encourage work to be produced similar to their own.

Captain/Team:	Licensing (Elenee FishTruck)
Why:	Ralliston has done an immense amount of tedious, detail-oriented work with license boxes, and would be a great staff addition. I anticipate they will be helpful in streamlining license box process.
Optional areas of improvement:	The areas for improvement for Ralliston are more related to more over-arching Licensing issues - their individual areas of improvement will come out as we work through that, and I am confident we can plan and address them.

Why:	Sketchy has been a consistent tagger, and has been involved in multiple special tagging projects such as applying character tags and retagging approximately 90 rewritten articles. They've grown into their role as a staff member, and we think that a little more responsibility will only help them to grow further.
Optional areas of improvement:	None at this time. Keep up the good work.

Why:	Winkwonkboi has been a productive member of staff for quite some time. He's a prolific and accurate tagger, but also keeps an eye out for incorrect tagging. Outside of MAST, he's generally helpful to new users - commenting on new articles and helping others to understand their resources.
Optional areas of improvement:	Try to be more reachable and easily contactable. You're steady and consistent - keep it up.

Why:	Needless to say, Torc has been an unstoppable force in policy works and is currently leading the policy tree-making with the help of other staff members. MAST owes them a lot as its co-captain, as an impeccable leader of sandbox cleaning, a consistent member of 05 Updating and an active member for deletion, which really needs more active deleters.

Why:	In this cycle, I think Cassandra has been the most hard-working OS ever since they were recruited. They've been invested in policy-making, co-heading sandbox cleaning - in which they have also introduced the schedule system - being an active and good MAST vice-captain; to not talk about Contact Staff being rewritten by them (this is also a reminder for anyone who hasn't given her Lead Liaisons) and, most importantly, her role as a deletion member, which as stated above needs more active deleters.
Optional areas of improvement:	Similar to Neb, you have good initiative, but need to set your foot down more.
