Taking out the divs would make the page way emptier and I don't think that's good.

It kind of looks empty without divs. I liked it way before. Text and link speaking this is fine.

The red glossy bubble fits the rest of Sigma-9, but that’s only because Sigma-9 is super outdated in it of itself.

There was a draft of this without any bubbles, and I thought that was a clean and timeless look. But, if we are keeping the bubbles, definitely make the first red. Maybe a compromise would be to keep the red bubble, and drop the rest?

In any case, theme:_404 and component:_404 will be updated to match this.

Otherwise, good.

Otherwise, it looks good. Nice work!

Likewise, the bottom block I feel should only contain the line with the Edit link. The How to Contribute line should be moved up.

It's a non-trivial amount of text, and the wrapping across multiple lines makes it look weird with center alignment.

Otherwise this is a nice improvement.

Among those was the a rewrite for the mainsite's 404/placeholder page (Also known as the "this page doesn't exist yet!" pop-up), which can be seen here.

One of the main issues we had with the original page was its length: A big part of it was believed to be unnecessary, and provided superfluous text that could be cropped for brevity. Another issue was the links: Most of the links in the page would simply drown each other, making them easily ignorable. As such, both the amount of text and links was reduced.

This discussion will be up for a week. If no major complaints or corrections are voiced, we'll move to replace the onsite 404 page with the proposed draft.
