Before and during WWII, the Nazis performed a lot of medical experiments and did much medical research.

They did this by methods that were unequivocally, inarguably, beyond any rationalization, cruel.

In the process, they discovered things that wouldn't be able to be observed by gentler methods for decades, until the technology and scientific knowledge and methods caught up.

After the war, the decision had to be made whether to use this priceless medical knowledge, knowing where it had come from, how the lives paid had been given neither willingly or easily.

The answer was yes. Use the knowledge to help others.

That is the kind of decision the Ethics Committee makes -but they make it before the experiments are done, knowing the possible results, and the price.
