I wholeheartedly agree with this. I feel like having a GoI format tab might help slightly to promote GoI formats in general, by acknowledging it as a major page type. Besides, GoI formats don't receive as much attention as SCPs or even tales, at least from what I've seen, and are more likely to languish in that general area.

In the proposed version, why is there a specific tab for fragments? Given that it should be a wall of fragment pages at +0, I'm not sure how useful it will be; fragments are also not supposed to be reader-facing so why promote them like this?

Also thirding (?) sqyd's comment on GOI formats. Yossi informed me over discord that there probably isn't a specific GOI tab because GOIs aren't differentiated from tales in the Lowest Rated Articles, but I'm not sure that the faithful synthesis of the two pages justifies lumping GOIs into an "Other" category when they're a major page type. Some readers may want to find the lowest-rated GOI formats for the same reason as SCPs and tales; why obstruct them?

Examining the history behind both of them, CWW made Lowest Rated Articles because Lowest Rated SCPs did not include non-SCPs. They also copied the exact phrasing of the page's explanation from Lowest Rated SCPs, except with "non-SCP" instead of "SCP". They likely didn't edit Lowest Rated SCPs due to its title, but the reason is unclear. I do not believe there is any other significant reason, though.

As far as I can tell, "Lowest Rated SCPs" was created by Quikngruvn in 2011 whereas "Lowest Rated Articles" was created by Scantron a year later. From Scantron's words "There are no specific initiatives going on right now, but it's never a bad idea to have a place to look at all the things that are contentious or have been overlooked. We have it for SCPs, but not for tales, supplements, etc." However, to this day, "Lowest Rated Articles" also displays SCPs, making the original page obsolete.

My question is why were there two pages in the first place? Did having both serve a function that merging them will now render inoperable?

I'm all for streamlining and making the site less redundant, but have we examined the background reasoning?

If there was no initial reasoning and the two pages represent duplicate work, I am 100% in support of merging the two and placing a redirect.

General support. It feels to me like there should be a 'goi-formats' tab on the proposed merged page as well though, since those are the three main kinds of content we expect people to write on the site?

While running deletions on Sunday I realized that we had two separate pages for lowest rated articles: Lowest Rated SCPs and Lowest Rated Articles. In Lowest Rated Articles, there are multiple tabs for different types of content, including tales only, supplements only, etc. I brought this up to MAST's navigation team and aismallard recoded these two pages on a sandbox, but merged and with much cleaner listmodules.

This thread is to discuss the implementation of aismallard's code into Lowest Rated Articles, and make Lowest Rated SCPs a redirect. An active example can be found here.

This discussion is open to all staff.
