Unless I'm mistaken essays are subject to the normal deletions process right? If that's the case let's just delete it when it reaches -10, which considering it's nature is pretty much inevitable in the near future.

I mean, the article does make good points (at least IMO). I think it would be a good idea here to keep it somewhere that can be found. It does tell of the site's history (not the best point in it… but still) and overall gets the point across that you kinda just have to get over yourself when people don't like your article and move on. I mean we can give it a new page if that's the consensus, but I feel like we shouldn't be making excuses for taking it off the site. We should be deciding whether this should stay or not based upon its merits and issues rather than trying to say it is off because of some rule none of the staff cared to address back when it was made.

If this page was created by someone else, fell to a low rating and was not deleted before Yoric put his article on the page, then it should be removed. That’s hijacking a page and to my knowledge that isn’t allowed.

That might not be what happened (I wasn’t around) but that’s what I’m gathering from the comments here and on its discussion page.

Yoric hijacking a page to write this was weird enough, do we have any idea where this page was rating-wise before he did this? It's at +1 now and I can't really convince myself to push for summary on it.

Nothing in here is really incorrect and only a little bit is all that mean spirited, and would be easily edited. The biggest problem with this page is that it was created over a deleted test log, which would have ensured its deletion - if it didn't actually make some valid points.

That all said, I'm not sure where it fits into our structure of helpful things we keep around since it basically just reminds people that a deleted article is no big deal and that joke articles both have to be jokes and good - people who need reminding of these basics are usually already getting mad at us for something along the lines of deleting their page and are therefore not actually reading the guides and essays.

I just read this and… I don't know. Certain parts of the essay are mean-spirited, it's true, but other parts are a bit more helpful, especially the part about "There is no penalty for having an article deleted".

In fact, that reminds me the "controversy" about Aelanna's Guide of Author Stereotypes, which was accused to be mean-spirited too. And, if I'm correct, he's still here but in the section of Joke Essays. Maybe we can put this on the same section ?

So… this page: http://www.scp-wiki.net/test-log-scp-926-1/comments/show

Discussion thread indicates that the general consensus is that it's rather mean-spirited and doesn't need to stay on the site (so -ARCing is out).

Could someone please generate a copy of the original text and screenshots of the discussion thread (especially this, please)? Then I believe we can move forward with deletion of the page, per staff consensus?

Of course, discussion is open to all staff who would like to weigh in on the matter.

ETA: thanks to TSAT for also archiving. http://scp-sandbox-3.wikidot.com/arc:test-log-scp-926-1
