User Jarbatalapus rewrote parts of SCP-097-J with consent from Roget, but appears to have a problem with people not removing their downvotes:

Staff Posted to ask them to consider that all opinions on the matter are valid, even if they don't agree with theirs. Also ended that particular discussion.

User also disregarded a request by ProcyonLotor to remove their upvote from the article in light of their rewrite, posting the following response:

I upvoted it before I rewrote it.

Edit: upvote has been removed.

User seems to have a tendency for passive-aggressiveness in general, so I'd watch this one.

Going to note here an exchange that is now deleted, since it was on a low-rated page that is now deleted. I'm not sure what the first comment in the chain was, but Crayne might be able to clear it up…

I'm… a little worried about how he keeps firing back with explanations about his actions? I don't think it'd be too much to just have said "okay", but then, maybe he thought he was in trouble or something? Personally, I'm not sure how much more gently Crayne could have worded his statement.

The first relevant comment in that exchange was a post by Anborough that approximately 20 minutes had passed since the author had acknowledged Zyn's request to remove their self-upvote.

Basically, it was a sort-of forum-game-like thread where readers were asked to imagine what went behind the "[DATA EXPUNGED]" text. The example used was, as Esko put it, creepy.

Noting that on a now-deleted article (originally created by Zanegar), Jarbatalapus made over 20 edits, including a major rewording of the containment procedures and decription, major additions to the test logs, a new test log, and adding a single tag (which Kalinin reverted so the bot could pick up on the untagged article).

Someone mentioned the possibility of a sockpuppet, given that Jarb picked up on a conversation in the discussion thread that Zanegar started (edit: for the record, these were forum posts on the wiki, not chat):

DrKidd: Why are those measurements relevant? Also, why is steel needed?
Z: Literally anything could be produced, that includes high explosives.
K: Okay, but why are those measurements needed? Also, there are metals that are more effective at blocking explosives.
J: True, but even the foundation isn't made out of money.
ProcyonLotor: That's not a sufficient explanation.
J: How so? The foundation can't afford 4324201677 cubic meters of titanium for every scip…

(and it goes on, without Zanegar stepping in again at all)

I think moose sent them a PM asking if they'd gotten authorial permission to make all the changes they did to the article, but I haven't heard word of that. There weren't any posts in the discussion area indicating that Zanegar had given permission to anyone to majorly edit their stuff.

I'm personally kind of iffy on this given that Jarb doesn't have any successful pages on the site yet and it'd be ideal for experienced authors to help newer members, especially if the help is going to be given in PMs. Jarb does seem genuinely interested in helping though, so it doesn't seem that big of an issue at present.

What's depressing is that someone downvoted something in under 60 seconds. Either they're a super mastermind speedreader, or they judge things too quickly.

Edit: Well, I just got proved wrong. I just now saw an article. As soon as I clicked on it, my vision was flooded with nothing but [REDACTED] and [DATA EXPUNGED]. NOW I see why it is valid to downvote within seconds.

It's good that this was resolved peacefully, but given that this has become pretty repeat behavior, move right to official warning if this happens again. Pointing fingers at others without proper context doesn't help anyone, even if it's done with good intentions.

In case you weren't having enough fun with the other user, Jarbatalapus is now responding to staff posts and generally stirring shit in the soon-to-be-deleted SCP-2916. Someone with the immense technical know-how might want to screencap this one.

Since when are tips about improper redactions, grammar, spelling, format, syntax, tone, and capitalization poor?

Also, regarding the message about me stirring shit, it should be pretty damn clear that I stopped responding to the posts after K told me to.

I responded (and warned):

FortuneFavorsBold was actually going to 05 you earlier in the week for poor critique, but was called off by work. I remember agreeing at the time.
And first of all, you were responding to Summary Deletion Votes, which are closed staff posts. Just because one guy breaks the rules doesn't mean it's free game. And considering you insulted said user in doing so, that's just… not good. You can consider this an official warning for messing with closed staff posts, I suppose.

Yeah… actually, earlier they made an edit to SCP-106 that Woggle had to fix. Reversion notice is here: http://www.scp-wiki.net/forum/t-232703/scp-106#post-2268736

Note that the user in question responded to the post justifying the edit, changed the comment three times, and got that the change wasn't necessary.

Just as a note, their post in which they didn't understand the reasoning for the reversion was before they read the PM I sent explaining it to them. They sent a follow up PM afterwards along the same lines as the forum post. Seems they were just confused by the unusual usage of 'SCP'.

Very sorry about this, but it's a misunderstanding.
I was not born on May 8th, 2002.
I was sprucing up my wikidot profile, when I decided to enter my year of birth as "2" for fun.
Didn't think that it would assume that I meant 2002.

In response to the editing of SCP-106, I checked my inbox only after sending a PM to Wogglebug, because I wasn't thinking. I realize the problem with the edit, I just didn't know that "SCP" was being used in that context. As for the repeated editing of my comment, that's simply because I tend to be quite afraid of being misunderstood in what I say.

I hope that that clears it up.
