This is a proposal to codify our policy in regards to reserving slots for SCPs or pages on the wiki for other purposes. I think allowing users to reserves slots is fine, and lets users be more free in working on very complicated pages without having to worry that their slot will be gone by the time they are ready to upload. I believe we should have a set of requirements that users will have to meet for us to create a reserved page.
- The article must have extremely technical parts that cannot be ctrl+F’d and changed. These include multiple images or gifs, video or audio files, or other highly involved technical aspects, where the SCP number is present in the above mentioned items.
- User must have an author page or three positively rated articles/pages at the time of their request.
- The user must present a draft or script that they will be following for their project to staff, or proof that they have already performed a significant amount of work on the project.
- The user has to show staff evidence of their abilities within the medium they are reserving a page for (Art pages, other SCP Wiki articles, or Non-SCP Projects can be used as proof)
- The claimed slot must be an empty number within the currently available series.
These requirements serve to show staff that the user in question is capable of completing their work and have a well-laid plan to finish this specific project.
Users may reserve a slot for 24 hours, 48 hours, or 7 days. When a user’s request is approved, a staff member will create a page and tag it with “reserved” or “admin” (if we don’t want to make a new tag), and indicate who reserved the slot, as well as placing a timer on the page. The user then has that amount of time to finish their project and let staff know. Once the project is finished, staff will delete the page and the user may upload their completed work.
When a user makes a request to reserve a page, discussion can occur in staff chat, but we can make a sticky thread on 05, and staff will announce there when a reserved page is made.
If a user fails to meet their deadline, they will be barred from reserving slots for period of time that we can determine later, which can be up to permanent in length.
Users will not be able to reserve slots strictly for sentimental or symbolic reasons. And even if a user meets all of the above requirements, we may still deny their request.
