I'm on pace to have another 85-90 hour work week. I leave work about ready to stab somebody so I've not been online much when I get home, because I really don't want to cause a problem when I'm just stressed from working my ass off. Hoping there's only one or two more crazy weeks, but my boss (the owner) is going on a vacation from 3/8 to 3/18. We'll see. Just didn't want it to seem like I bounced without giving a reason.
I am tentatively back to normal with work, though we're talking about opening up a new business. I don't think it's going to have the impact on my free time that the last few weeks have had, though.
Out with little chance of being online 10/9 to 10/18. Doing some Dell training and seeing my dad.
Beats the shit out of the first thing, huh? Take care.
Bump. I'm out. I'm going to check in periodically on my phone at least. No development happening while I'm gone.
No problem, good luck.
Dropping out for a little bit, just got back from vacation and the wife and I are organizing all the shit we need to do in the short term. I will not be doing much beyond the Sunday SCP of the Week posts on reddit for a bit. Part of what I'm working on is getting more familiar with the framework that I was using to build the next generation wiki. I have a couple of small projects I'm doing with it that I need to finish for the sake of my comfort with the language and a new way of doing things. I have not eliminated the possibility of learning the languages that Resure is using to develop Starforge at SCP-RU.
It'll be probably a month.
I am likely going to need to drop to inactive status. I've had a job offer extended that is something like a 70% pay increase, but will also involve a longer commute and more time at home training on new skills. Keep me abreast of drunk staff chats via Steam or Facebook.
I am working independently on some web programming stuff that is still potentially useful for the wiki, I have two personal projects in front of it at this point but the platform is the same and the skills would be entirely transferable.
Godspeed man.
This reminds me, though; SCP Mafia channel doesn't have a mafia bot. Is that gonna have to die, or were you working with someone on a new bot?
I am as ready to return as I can manage for the foreseeable future. Starting to really get a handle on things at the new job. It looks like my IRC registration lapsed; if you all were good with how I was handling things in various rooms I need to get re-AOPed.
Good to see you back! :3
So, this is unusual. I'm actually writing to let you guys know I'll be around more often. I am low-key working on some technology that might get used for future projects, too. It's clicking in a way that it never did before. I'm still busy with work, but I'm riding the train for about 3 hours a day, and about half that time involves having internet. I won't be on chat in those times because it'll cut out too much, but I'm planning on making more use of the forum.
Reduced availability this week due to work and generally trying to do better at balancing work and home stuff. Pingable on IRC if needed.
I've had a bit of a family emergency this week with my dog and I'm going to be hard to get a hold of this weekend and into at least the first half of next week.
Back on Wednesday after we got home from work, my dog was basically minding his own business and then let out a big yelp, and pretty much immediately lost the use of his back legs. We get to a 24-hour emergency clinic, they say it's neurological and send us to a neuro specialist back in the other direction. This goes on until about 11 PM. They run an MRI yesterday morning and the specialist's initial diagnosis was confirmed, a disc ruptured, pressing on the spinal cord and restricting his mobility. They rolled him straight into surgery. I got the call around 3PM that he was out and doing okay, but will be in their care for the next several days.
The update I got about an hour ago was that he's doing well, he's got his mobility back, managed to pee under his own power. He's not really eating yet but that's not uncommon with the amount of pain meds he's got on board. I don't know when I'm going to get to have him home but tomorrow's going to involve a lot of work around the house getting it ready for his triumphant return.
