For the curious, I did some extremely sloppy counting and it appears that we typically get between 20 and 50 apps per day (to me, a surprising amount of random variation). We deny the vast majority, usually for either (A) not putting age, location, or doing the required reading, or (B) just not doing the required reading.

In my case, I do apps partially using form letters for the denial / acceptance messages, so it doesn't take that long, but we also don't spend all day doing it, so it's not abnormal for a user to have to wait a day or so. Wikidot's interface is not very quick or convenient to navigate, so it can take a bit longer than it should. (IE, not just a few seconds).

More underage users means more effort and time invested because there are extra steps we have to take, using features that can safely be described as "kinda shitty". Like, you know how when you try to send a wikidot message to a user without clicking on their name, and Wikidot takes forever to fill in the blank, but you have to wait for it because if you click away or change tabs or whatever the name won't fill in? Yeah, it's like that, except with more steps.

Not the biggest deal in the world, but I thought people might be curious.

Is there a way to set this up so that people fill in their age and the other required shit apart from "tell us why you want in" in a separate text box and get automatically denied if they do it wrong?

Yeah, yeah, I did the big app too, it'd just be easier if you guys didn't have to trawl through 10,000 twelve year olds every day
