Well, as I posted in a previous thread, I'd like to see what sort of standard we want for things being posted on 05. Do we want to keep log of everything staff might have an interest in, because it might better keep everyone on the same page, or only the significant things so the site isn't overrun with trivial threads? Because I know that multiple staff members have conflicting standards as to what might be good enough to post. I know that, for example, moose prefers to have everything logged here.
I'm not saying we should hash out some strict guidelines as to what is and isn't okay to post on here. We're all senior staff, for the most part, so that means we can be trusted to make our own decisions. However, it is also true that having some small guidelines for the sake of consistency can't hurt. This is mostly regarding what sort of behavior we should report for new users, since we basically have most chat stuff on the same page. Do we post here if we think someone is being sort of a dink, or not? Is doing so going overboard, even if we take no disciplinary action?
Personally, I think we obviously ought to make note if someone is notably out of line on the wiki, like The Enigma Man, but that we might also benefit from the creation of a New Users thread similar to the one found in chat for people we just want everyone to be aware of. Not like eric_h's membership proposal, just someplace that we can point people out and say to keep an eye on them. Now, you might say this could be done in chat, but that depends on people actually remembering the person, and who told them, and it eventually dissolves into a bunch of hearsay about the person because nobody took the time to write it down until things got serious.
So, what are your thoughts?
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!
