Uh. Hi. I left and was gone and now I'm back but I'm not staff.
Lots of new faces that I don't recognize, so let me run through the Cliffs Notes: I used to be a moderator, then I left for a hiatus and went inactive, then time passed, then I was removed/retired from staff due to inactivity, and then more time passed, and then I was interested in the wiki and writing again, and now here's this thread.
I've talked to some admins and staff members who've told me that it would not be unwelcome for me to voice my opinions on wiki matters and threads as some sort of Mod Emeritus or Wizened Elder or something to that effect, and I'm interested in doing it. But rather than just start showing up and throwing my numerous shekels at topics of public debate and interest, I wanted to see if anyone had a problem with me doing this.
Just to put it in bold because I came to miss Wikidot formatting after a while, I am not, do not believe myself to be, nor believe myself to deserve, any voting rights or privileges as actual staff at this point in time. If I were ever to be part of staff again in an official capacity, it would be through the regular promotions structure and climbing the ladder again with the advice and consent of existing staff as everyone else on 05 has done, and through putting in the work that I haven't been involved with in the past three years. If some mod from 2011 showed up in 2014 and demanded to be let back into staff in their former capacity, I would have been one of the first people on the parapets with a wall of text about why that wouldn't be appropriate, and that opinion hasn't changed.
If me doing this bothers anyone, please, say so now. I'll be standing over to the side.
