Members of plain ole senior staff don't have any moderative power. I think we could stand to change that.
I propose: Give all senior staff the power to call a 'stop' to a conversation.
Currently, senior staff only do this after backed by a big discussion, and more commonly, not at all.
Now, we draw moderators from the ranks of senior staff. Right now, we have an acceptable number of moderators (though we could still use more), but it wasn't so long ago that we badly needed new ones. This small bit of moderative power could serve as a good test of judgment.
And it can cut down on drama. The bigger we get, the more drama we'll get, and the more people we want to equip to deal with it, faster.
Thoughts?
