With the permission of ARD, I am officially announcing the Guide Rewrite Project. The goal of this project is to look at every guide and update them to better reflect modern site culture and standards. This project will also determine whether any administrative pages need minor updates as well. Lastly, this project will go through the various essays and see if any discuss should be upgraded to Guides.
When a guide has been rewritten, we will present it to the captains of the Community Outreach Team to get an initial opinion. Following that, a discussion thread will be made on O5 that outlines what changes have been made, where all members of staff can weigh in on the rewrite. If non-staff users would like to share input, they may PM a staff member to add their thoughts to the page. Once this discussion thread has wound down, we will make further updates based on what staff and users have said. Following this, we will present the final draft to the CO captains again and members of the administration. For non-required guides, we will simply upload the rewrite once the captains and admins have OK'd it, but required guides will require a vote before the rewrites are implemented.
My rewrite of the Object Classes page was the first guide to be rewritten in this manner.
This is not a small project, and because of that I would like to have 1-2 more staff members, other than Modern_Erasmus and myself, helping with this task. If you're interested in helping, let me know. My goal is to have this completed by the end of August at the latest.
I will update this thread with the guides we're currently working on.
