While looking into a case today about a user who used a 4 megabyte image in their skip, I noticed our file data cap had been raised from 5 gigabytes (the normal amount for pro accounts and what we’ve had until recently) to 10 gigabytes. This wasn’t a policy change on pro accounts, since even other wikis owned by Mann (like Sandbox 2) still have the 5 gig limit.
I’m not sure when this was changed since it was done with no announcement, but it was definitely fairly recent. As for the why, I can only guess that Wikidot made the change since we recently crossed the halfway point of our original data limit. Since we’re their big moneymaker, I assume they doubled it as an advance precaution to ensure no stalling in content production (and thus pageview attraction).
