Apparently the Pro account expired when no one was looking, and so now instead of having 5 GB of file space available on the site, we have 300 MB— which is bad since we have ~325 MB of files on the site. Mackenzie and I are looking for files that can be compressed or deleted to get under the cap as soon as possible, but it won't help much in the long run. I have no idea what steps need to be taken to get back on a Pro account— if it's just paying $50 on Gears' behalf, great, but somehow I think it's not that straightforward.
Gears has to be the one to make the payment. It's pretty straightforward, but we need him online to get it done.
Can someone get hold of him via alternate means then?
Just for the record, I talked to Tox, and he said he'd work on getting some filespace on his domain for overflow from the wiki.

For the record, that doesn't fix audio files. Quik and I tried; the audio player on Wikidot won't work with audio files that aren't hosted on-site.
So, keeping audio files on should be high priority. I know we've had debates in the past re: author control over where their images are hosted; if we need to start migrating images offsite, are we going to have to ask each author individually? Should we make an announcement post on the main wiki about this, asking for volunteers in that regard?

For the record as well, my filehosting is live - if you want/need to have files uploaded there, either ask me or a member of staff and get the files to them. They'll make sure it gets on my server.
SHIT.
I just…i forgot it ran out eventually. If someone can contact me with the payment information again, I'll take care of it ASAP. It's been a little while, and i'll admit, i forgot the information.
Just message me with what's needed, and i'll get it done quickly.
It should all be under your profile. Simply go to your profile page for Wikidot and go to the Upgrade tab.
The issue here is, I do not…ahh…recall the log-in information for the paypal account that is used to upgrade the site. I'm going to be putting it in a secure location now, but first i need someone to PM it to me, if at all possible…
If necessary you are able to pay via credit/debit card too(just to give additional options).
Which would be fantastic…if I had the funds on hand. I'm afraid I actually don't, so I need to access the account with the donated funds in it. I know we're planning a site move, but it might be prudent to take care of this now. If someone could please PM me the information, i can take care of this.
We don't have donated funds at this time. We spent the funds from the original fundraiser to get you the Pro Lite account in the first place. The funds from the recent fundraiser went to the hosting for the test site. I ended both as soon as we had most of the money to pay for those things.
The account used in both cases was my own account. I mean, I can go ahead and pay for it, but we really do need to get to the point where the site has its own money.
Well, we need to decide whether we're going to pay for another year of Pro Lite on Wikidot, or not and mitigate the file-space issue by moving stuff to dedicated hosting that's been offered by Tox and others. I see pros and cons either way….
Just to add to the mayhem, it appears that, for me at least, if you go to the main page you are now automatically logged out, for at least that page, forcing you to see ads. It also seems to not let you log in, and the ads themselves act a bit disruptive, they made my screen flicker at home, not sure what happened there.
I doubt it is only me because this happened to me on my home computer, my phone, and my work computer.
F U wikidot basically?
It is happening to me on Main Page, SCP series 1, Most Recently Created, Random SCP, Foundation Tales, and Top Rated Pages. Possibly others, but those are the main culprits.
My assumption is that it is happening on the most visited pages on the site.

Seconding that - it will affect any page, it's not limited to the home page.

I disagree in that so far the vast majority of pages do not do it to me. But it is definitely a problem, and possibly a fast-growing one.

I've been randomly cycling pages, and all of them are capable of doing it.
Also, people in 19 are saying that their screen names show up as others.
I've seen Quik, Lycan, Fausto and Rhett in my place.
I think Wikidot hates us.

Hasn't been happening to me so far, which is od, because I'm in and out of the site every couple of hours….
It seems to have settled down.
But it is the latest in a long series of "things what go wrong with Wikidot". Can't wait to get on PF.
Happened to me a bunch too about an hour ago. Very odd.
Edit: oh boy. It's happening again. So far, it's just people whose profiles I've recently viewed. But I viewed a LOT of profiles last night, so that could be coincidence. Maybe.
UPDATE: As of now, still happening.
Current site storage size: 299.99 MB used of total 300 MB, 12.39 kB still free
Max upload size: 12.39 kB
Uh. We sorta need to get this fixed now. Because people are gonna want to upload files. If Gears still doesn't have the means to get it fixed, is there anyone else who can?

Alright, here we are:
I do not at this point have a Pro account, nor do i have the means to aquire one in the immedate future.
Dr. Mann has approached me with the request that i transfer master admin status to him, being that he has a pro account, and I do not.
Personal ego aside, this is probably the quickest fix for this issue. If the site move where a little more immedate, i might be inclined to just wait, but I don't see that being the case.
Is this an alright plan? At this point, anyone with a pro account would be a valid option, just as long as we can get things up and running again.
I support the shift to Mann.

Mann has my vote of confidence.
Though I'd still consider Gears the master admin in all but technical title, unless administration decides otherwise.
Yes, please do this. Gears is still Master Admin in my heart, though, and should have some sort of equivalent title in the PF world.
I still consider you the head admin, don't get me wrong. I just want to be able to fix things like this, and you've got a crap ton of stuff on your plate.
This is a good and necessary shift. It means nothing as far as the staff or administration itself goes, it's just making it so we can pay for wikidot. Go for it.
Mann is now the MA. I only cried a little…
Anyway, the site can (ideally) get back on track now, sorry for the speed bump.
Thanks. Like I said, I still consider you the real boss around here.
In other news, storage size left: 4.71 GB
I, for one, welcome our new Mad Scientist overlord.
Cue the internal debate on whether it's better to be a henchman, a minion, or a lackey…

Always best to be the man behind the frontman. He takes all the heat, and if things start to go south…you can always ease his retirement…
Ah, but see, the leiutenant is also almost always the mini-boss, and I thank any JRPG player know how well that ends. I suppose it's still better than being a mook, though. Poor mooks. Cannon-fodder, the lot of them.
Giving bearhugs to the unsuspecting since 1872.
We're all doomed. Everyone to the shelters immediately. Mann's mad science will be the end of us.
But in all seriousness, I'm temporarily coming out of my inactivity to give my support to this. Congratulations Mann, but also best of luck to you, Gears. You're both great!
…but seriously start wearing full body armor and carrying around a taser. Or hide in different closets. Mann can't Manngle what he can't catch.
You'll always be the Master Admin in our hearts, and I don't mean that as the cheesy platitude it seems.
