During the discussion of the recent events located over here in these posts in super secret staffchat, I brought up the idea of making an addition to the Site Rules in order to clarify expectations for users continuing conversations which originated in the site forums and lead to the thread being locked.
There is nothing inherently wrong with continuing the topic of discussion in a thread which has been locked in private channels such as Wikidot PMs, as long as it remains civil. If it does not, I believe this should be considered actionable, as the conversation has begun in our forums and is between members of our wiki. As such, I am proposing the following rule be added:
"If a thread in the forums is locked, continued conversation may be had over private messages as long as both parties are amenable to the discussion. However, this conversation must be kept civil and respectful, or potential disciplinary action may be taken."
