And, this one looks to be in the same boat with the one a vote was called on earlier. Should this one be deleted as well?

If you guys are going to be cleaning old contest entries you should probably just do it rather than going through the motions like you would for a real article.
SophosBlitz 18 Mar 2011, 17:39 GMT-05
Why not just throw all the contest entries onto one page? They all use the same picture so it'll just be one big collection of collapsible blocks sitting there for archival purposes with maybe a note next to each entry in the page with their rating. You know, as a reminder that we used to do contests like this in the past (and this is the kind of writing that did or did not win) like some sort of snapshot in time.
Edit: I have the source for the Brucy entry handy so we could theoretically do this if there weren't any others deleted before Brucy.
Edit #2: There are NekoChris', Gerald's, Heiden's, Convair's, Whitewings', Brucy's, and Sorts' according to revision #8 here, and the cutoff announced in Gears' old contest thread. I think throwing them all on one page is feasible (if staff permit).

I can't think of any reason at all to archive those. I suggest we just delete 'em all, but I'll wait to pull the trigger until more staff speak up.
TroyL 19 Mar 2011, 13:11 GMT-05
I tend to agree with Yoric on this. It's nice having them there, but most of them are rated right at zero or below (save Heiden's), and the image/concept has already been used elsewhere. We should probably notify the authors, to see if they want to try and transform the -C into a flat out new SCP, but for the most part… I say we delete them.

I say we send out PMs, give it a week, see what the creators have to say, and then burn it all anyway.
Pig_catapult 19 Mar 2011, 15:10 GMT-05
Putting out some PMs to let the creators know that these'll be deleted at X date, in case they want to save a copy for themselves, sounds good to me.

Give them the chance they have to re-purpose or at least save their writing, then fire.
I'd say put them on a page and give them two weeks, since many of those people aren't frequenters.
The RavenThe Raven 19 Mar 2011, 14:45 GMT-05
As some of you may know, I've advocated pruning a lot of these old pages that have no use anymore (and all the sandboxes, but I digress), so I'm gonna say to just delete them.
DrEverettMann 19 Mar 2011, 15:01 GMT-05
Agreed, Light. If they're around and want to repurpose the writing later, let 'em. Otherwise, we can toss 'em.
