So I notice that since we have more active users and active senior staff, we've been very quick at downvoting and deleting poorly-received SCPs. This is very good and we should get those pieces of shit off the site as soon as possible.
However I worry that we're getting too efficient, namely that writing is being deleted before their authors have a chance to see the full range of criticism they're getting, particularly from senior staff. My fear is that this has led to authors writing different SCPs without a good idea of what they were doing wrong the last time, resulting in even more crappy things we end up deleting, and, potentially, unneeded animosity between the site and the user or the user and the SS. (To say nothing of the possibility of rewrites.)
Therefor, if you think a grace period is a good idea, I propose 2 options-
1) In which we refrain from voting for deletion for the first 24 hours in which a piece is up, or
2) In which we can vote on deletion but not actually delete for the first 24 hours.
The purpose would not be to refrain or just hold off on deleting work, but to give authors a chance to read the complaints about the work and possibly make edits to improve the SCP. I'm more in favor of the first option myself. Thoughts?
